Meet Cassie Brungarth of Cassie’s Cardinals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Brungarth.

Hi Cassie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got my start in childcare during college, caring for several families—including one who traveled from Italy so their son, Leo, could receive medical care. I spent countless hours with Leo and his brother, both in the hospital and at home, and quickly became their go-to caregiver. I was deeply committed to being there whenever they needed support.
After graduating, I found myself caring for more families than I could manage on my own. When Leo’s mom would call and I couldn’t be there, it genuinely broke my heart. That’s when I began bringing on trusted caregivers I personally vetted and trained, sending them to support other families so I could remain available to Leo’s family whenever they needed me.
What started as a way to show up more fully for one family naturally evolved into what is now my agency—built on trust, responsiveness, and truly personalized care.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced was moving across the country to Los Angeles in 2014, just two years after launching my company in Columbus, Ohio. Managing a growing business across time zones was incredibly demanding—I was taking calls at 3 a.m. while trying to keep everything running smoothly from afar.
At the same time, I had to figure out how to structure the business and trust someone on the ground in Columbus to take over day-to-day operations. Letting go of control was especially difficult in those early stages, particularly because families placed so much trust in me personally.
That experience pushed me to build stronger systems, delegate effectively, and grow into a more scalable business model—less dependent on me being everywhere at once.

Cassie’s Cardinals is a high-touch staffing agency providing safe, reliable in-home care for families and individuals. We specialize in thoughtfully matched placements for full-time and part-time childcare, household support, elderly care, and pet care.

What matters most to me is trust. Families are inviting us into their homes and relying on us to care for the people they love most, and that’s something I never take lightly. Everything we do—from how we vet our caregivers to how we communicate with clients—is rooted in building and maintaining that trust.
It matters because this work is deeply personal. We’re not just providing a service; we’re supporting families during important, and sometimes vulnerable, moments in their lives. Knowing that we can bring peace of mind, consistency, and genuine care into a home is what drives me every day.
At the end of the day, if a family feels safe, supported, and truly taken care of, that’s what defines success for me.
