Inspiring Conversations with Amanda Dixon of ATX Auctions – Columbus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Dixon.

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Amanda Dixon is the CEO of Dixon Enterprise Services LLC and the founder of Gahanna-based ATX Auctions – Columbus. A resilient entrepreneur, Amanda launched her first business on her back porch in the spring of 2020—just weeks before the world shut down. While many would have paused, she pressed forward, building a thriving company during one of the most uncertain economic periods in modern history.
She is also the founder of FBAPrep4U, a fulfillment prep center that helps businesses successfully sell their products on Amazon.com. What began as a small operation quickly scaled into a 32,000-square-foot warehouse employing 35 team members. When her largest client unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy, Amanda was forced to make the difficult decision to downsize her team to 10 employees—an experience that reshaped her approach to business and risk.
Rather than retreat, Amanda pivoted. She launched ATX Auctions – Columbus, an online auction that complements her logistics expertise by redistributing Amazon liquidation inventory to consumers at deeply discounted prices. The model not only provides value to shoppers but also supports sustainability by keeping usable goods out of landfills.
Today, Amanda continues to grow ATX Auctions – Columbus, expanding to multiple weekly auctions to meet increasing demand. Her journey—from back-porch startup to scaling, setback, and strategic reinvention—embodies the grit, adaptability, and vision that define modern women entrepreneurs.
A wife and mother of two, Amanda is passionate about sharing her story to inspire others and is open to podcast and speaking opportunities where she can discuss entrepreneurship, resilience, and building businesses through adversity.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes, there have been substantial struggles. The FBAPrep4u business, is now a successful business venture, but it was not the first or second business I attempted. I had a recruiting business in 2004, worked in corporate America, then had a thriving baby pillow business selling on Amaozn.com. But Amazon crushed that business with an algorithm change. I then started selling on Amazon using the Wholesale business model. When I realized prepping products for others was a better business model than selling on my own products I switched over to the prep center business. The prep center grew and grew, having us steadily growing until 2024 when our largest customer declared bankruptcy and skipped out on $41,000 in invoices. I had to cut form 35 people to 10 and pick up the pieces.
I never wanted this to happen again so I thought diversifying the business into the liquidation side of the Amazon ecosystem would be the most easily blended business that could compliment instead of compete within our current physical space and business expertise. Now, we are growing the two businesses in tandem, hoping to make the Auction a profitable business in 2026 and give more financial stability moving forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
ATX Auctions are fully online auctions that sell liquidation items from large retailers like Amazon, Walmart Home Depot and Target. We receive full truckloads of inventory and have a team that opens every box, tests every item to list it in one of our auctions. We have 2 auctions a week, one that closes Sunday night at 6:00 and one that closes Wednesday night at 6:00. We aren’t like other auctions. If something is broken or we listed it incorrectly then we will make it right. You have 10 days after pickup to let us know of the issue and we’ll make it right. You can come to our facility and pick up your items or, for small and medium items they can be shipped.

We are proud that the work we do, brings low cost name brand goods into reach for everyone. We are also glad that all of these items aren’t just thrown into a landfill, they find new homes with people who enjoy the thrill of getting a great deal. All of our bidding starts at $5 and you never know what will be up next. One day it’s a PlayStation 5 VR headset and the next is a brand new L shaped couch. Anything and everything can come through here, at rock bottom prices.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Columbus and the surrounding areas, everyone is welcoming and has what I’ve heard called the “Midwestern Work Ethic.” I appreciate meeting everyone who comes though here from all walks of life. I think the “Central Ohio – At the Heart of It All” is a great tagline for our area.

I don’t really have anything to dislike :).
