Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Rietman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion for a change. The goal? To create a fun, family friendly, community focused event while also supporting local small businesses. To offer a space where people can gather, enjoy good food and spend time together.
Market creator, Courtney Rietman, had been to other local markets and enjoyed the atmosphere they were able to create. After a few years of thinking about what if, she put action behind her idea.
The first step? Find a location for the market. After seeing a Facebook post on Wagoner Power Equipment’s page, she sent the business a message with her idea. Quentin Wagoner, owner of Wagoner Power Equipment, agreed to a meeting to discuss the idea of a market.
After hammering out the details and putting in some hard work behind the scenes, the Englewood Market was born!
The Englewood Market made its debut in the fall of 2022, with two markets that year (September and October). In 2023, the market season expanded to include six dates. For 2026, the market is slated to hold seven events this season, starting in May and ending in November.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Englewood Market has received huge support from the community to keep us going strong as we start our 5th season in 2026! While the community continues to show up each month during the market season, our biggest struggles are out of our control. The weather is not always kind to us. Being that we are an outdoor event, we sometimes have to weather the weather.
