Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Eichberger.
Kelly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey in education by teaching abroad, where I developed a deep appreciation for hands-on, child-centered learning. When I returned to the United States during COVID, I saw a real need for quality childcare, as many families were struggling to find available spots. That’s when I decided to create a home-based preschool.
Today, Wildflower Wonders Preschool is a small, cozy program where children can learn in a nurturing home environment. With smaller class sizes and plenty of time spent outdoors, we focus on creating a warm, engaging space where kids feel comfortable, curious, and connected to nature.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was finding families when I first moved to Colorado, since I didn’t have an established network yet. I also experienced some challenges with business partnerships along the way. Those experiences helped me grow and clarify my vision, and I’ve found a structure that allows me to collaborate in meaningful ways while staying true to the heart of the program.
We’ve been impressed with Wildflower Wonders Preschool, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wildflower Wonders Preschool is a home-based, nature-inspired early childhood program designed to feel warm, personal, and connected. We focus on small class sizes so each child receives individualized attention in a calm, nurturing environment that feels like an extension of home.
We specialize in outdoor, play-based learning while spending much of our day exploring nature, gardening, creating, and following the children’s natural curiosity. Our approach supports social-emotional growth, creativity, and confidence, while allowing children to learn at their own pace.
What sets us apart is the combination of a cozy home setting with a strong emphasis on outdoor exploration and child-led learning. We also incorporate daily yoga and art, and prioritize healthy nutrition by involving students in preparing wholesome foods. I’m most proud of the sense of community we’ve built, where families feel supported and children feel safe, seen, and excited to learn each day.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Building connections can feel challenging at first, but starting small really helps. For me, joining local parenting groups and early childhood education communities, both in person and online, was a great way to meet like-minded people. Simply showing up consistently and being genuine goes a long way.
I’ve also found that reaching out to others in the field with curiosity and respect can naturally lead to mentorship. Asking questions, sharing ideas, and being open to learning has created meaningful, supportive relationships over time.
