Check Out Pramod Bhandari’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pramod Bhandari.

Hi Pramod, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey with photography began back in 2005 in Nepal, where I used a simple analog camera to capture travel moments and family memories. At the time, it was purely a hobby—something I enjoyed without imagining where it would eventually take me.

In 2013, I moved to Stavanger, Norway, and was completely inspired by the country’s natural beauty. That’s when I bought a second-hand crop sensor Canon DSLR and started exploring landscape photography more seriously. What began as curiosity quickly turned into passion.

A year later, in 2014, I moved to Oslo and made a significant investment in my first full-frame camera, a Nikon D800 with a Tamron 24–70mm f/2.8 lens. Around that time, I also launched my Facebook page, “Pramod Photography,” marking the beginning of my professional journey. I spent countless hours exploring the city alone, capturing long exposure shots, experimenting with astrophotography, and pushing my creative boundaries. One memory that stands out is traveling far from home on a freezing winter night to capture star trails—shooting over 300 images across two hours and combining them into a single frame. Moments like that defined my dedication.

During my time in Europe, I also had the opportunity to travel across more than 13 countries and many cities, capturing both natural landscapes and historic architecture. Looking back, it’s funny—I rarely took photos of myself. I was always behind the camera, fully focused on capturing the beauty around me. It really shows how deeply passionate I was about photography. Whether I was traveling with friends or family, I always carried my tripod, shooting long exposures at night, and whenever I came across water, I made sure to have my ND filters ready to create those smooth, dreamy effects.

I actively engaged with photography communities, joined photo walks, and connected with local creatives. These experiences helped me grow technically and creatively. Over time, people began noticing my work, which led to opportunities in event and family photography. I continued investing in my craft—adding new gear, learning lighting techniques, and eventually expanding into videography with tools like gimbals, drones, and professional audio equipment.

Beyond photography, I collaborated with other creatives to produce YouTube content, short films, promotional videos, and artist interviews. I also had the opportunity to cover events like movie premieres, which further broadened my experience.

In 2018, I moved to Colorado and made the bold decision to sell all my equipment before relocating. Once I settled, I reinvested in new Sony camera systems and continued building my kit, especially focusing on lighting. I developed a strong interest in creative lighting—playing with colors, gels, and different lighting patterns to shape mood and storytelling.

In Denver, I expanded into various photography genres, including events, portraits, real estate, and boudoir. I continued working under “Pramod Photography” as a sole proprietor and built a solid client base through social media and local networking.

However, in 2025, I faced a major setback when my social media account was hacked and couldn’t be recovered. Since it was my primary source of visibility and client connections, it significantly impacted my business. It was a challenging moment, and for a while, I wasn’t sure what direction to take.

In January 2026, I decided to start fresh. I officially launched my LLC, “Visual Story Production,” and began rebuilding from the ground up. This new chapter has been both challenging and rewarding. I’m working harder than ever, reconnecting with the community, and steadily gaining momentum again.

At the core of it all, my passion remains the same—I love capturing moments and telling visual stories through my lens. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people, and nothing is more fulfilling than seeing my clients happy with the memories I create for them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many creatives, one of my biggest challenges was the cost of photography equipment. When I started taking photography more seriously in Norway, I was still a student, so investing in expensive gear wasn’t easy. I often relied on second-hand equipment and upgraded slowly over time as I could afford it.

In addition to gear, editing software and tools have always been another ongoing expense, which adds up quickly when you’re trying to grow in this field.

Another major setback I faced was in 2025, when my social media account was hacked and I couldn’t recover it. That platform was my main source of exposure and client connections, so losing it had a significant impact on my work and visibility. It forced me to step back, reassess, and rebuild everything from scratch.

Despite these challenges, each obstacle taught me resilience and pushed me to keep improving, adapt, and stay committed to my passion.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a visual storyteller at heart, and through my brand, Visual Story Production, I focus on capturing authentic moments and turning them into meaningful, timeless visuals. My work spans across event photography, portraits, real estate, and creative shoots such as boudoir and lifestyle sessions. I also have experience in videography, including promotional content, interviews, and short-form storytelling.

What I specialize in most is creating natural, emotion-driven imagery while also incorporating creative lighting techniques. I enjoy working with light—whether it’s natural light or controlled studio setups—using colors, gels, and different lighting patterns to bring depth and mood into my images. This combination allows me to create photos that feel both real and artistically refined.

I’m known for my dedication and willingness to go the extra mile to get the perfect shot. Whether it’s shooting long exposures in extreme conditions, traveling to unique locations, or carefully crafting lighting setups, I always aim to deliver something special for my clients.

What I’m most proud of is my journey—starting from a simple hobby and growing into a professional career, while continuously learning and adapting. Even after setbacks, like losing my main social media platform, I was able to rebuild and come back stronger with a new vision.

What sets me apart is my passion and versatility. I don’t just take pictures—I focus on telling a story, creating an experience, and building genuine connections with the people I work with. I believe that connection is what brings out the most authentic moments, and that’s what makes my work stand out.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important quality behind my success is persistence. My journey hasn’t been easy—there were financial limitations, slow growth at times, and even major setbacks like losing my primary social media platform. But I’ve always continued to push forward, adapt, and keep improving.

Along with persistence, I’d say passion plays a huge role. I genuinely love what I do, and that drives me to go the extra mile—whether it’s learning new techniques, experimenting with lighting, or putting in extra time to deliver the best results for my clients.

That combination of persistence and passion has helped me stay consistent, grow through challenges, and keep moving forward no matter the situation.
