Hi Amber/Maggie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Kindred Light Studios was built from a lifelong friendship and a shared love for photography. We are best friends that met at a young age and were always the ones documenting everything, eventually growing up in the photography industry and learning the craft hands-on from an early age.

Over time, that passion naturally evolved into a full-time business. Today, we’re Cincinnati-based wedding and lifestyle photographers who travel both locally and worldwide, capturing love stories with an approach that blends editorial artistry and documentary storytelling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but every season has shaped Kindred Light Studios into what it is today.

We grew up in the photography industry, so the creative side felt natural—but building a business around it has been both intuitive and challenging. One of the biggest shifts has been Amber becoming a mom of two while growing a business. Balancing motherhood with working nights, traveling aroad, and client experience has required a lot of flexibility and intention.

We’ve also taken risks expanding beyond Cincinnati into destination weddings and international work. Reaching couples getting married abroad pushed us to refine our brand and step outside our comfort zone.

It hasn’t always been easy, but those challenges have shaped the way we serve our clients and the experience we’re known for today.

At Kindred Light Studios, we are Cincinnati-based wedding photographers specializing in high-end weddings throughout Ohio and destination weddings worldwide. Our work blends documentary storytelling with an editorial approach, creating imagery that feels effortless, refined, and true to how the day actually felt.

We’re known for the experience we provide just as much as the photos themselves. We help guide our couples through timelines, lighting, and flow so the day never feels rushed—while still leaving space for real, unscripted moments.

What sets us apart is our history. We’ve been best friends for over 20 years and photographing weddings together for over 14, which gives our work a seamless, intuitive dynamic.

What we’re most proud of is building a brand that values connection, trust, and artistry—while consistently serving couples in Cincinnati, across the U.S., and internationally.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, we were always very present, living fully in the moment while also feeling this pull to capture it. That’s where photography naturally came in. Amber started young, helping her mom build her photography business and learning everything from assisting at sessions to developing film. Maggie was always the one with a camera at school events and with friends, documenting everything as it happened.

We both gravitated toward the arts and loved creating, which is really where our friendship began. Whether it was photography or other creative outlets, we were always drawn to making something meaningful.

We’ve always understood how quickly life’s special moments pass, and how important it is to preserve them.
