Rising Stars: Meet Jodi Ingram of Newark, OH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Ingram.

Hi Jodi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My deparment was terminated after a business purchase that I was at for 19 years back in June 2024. I didn’t want to go back to a job having to wait a year for one weeks vacation, so I decided to look into something I could build on my own as a business owner. Me and my husband have been together since middle school and we were young parents, and now that all three of our boys are married and they all have bought their own homes I felt at ease taking a risk and trying something new.

After taking an interest in permanent jewerly I decided to look more into it, watching several training videos and peoples testimates on owning a permanent jewelry business that I decided to jump in with both feet. I didn’t know where I was going to go with it at first, if I was going to just do events and parties or open a store, but we own 3 herbal supplement stores, and the store in Newark, OH came with a seperate store front that we were using for storage and we talked about it and decided to turn the storage area into place where customers could come in and get permanent jewelry.

Talking with my family, our middle son decided he wanted to be a part of it and started making homemade soy candles which is called “J&J Chandle Cafe”, I then asked my niece who does tinsel hair if she would be interested in offering her tinsel hair services which is called “Frank’s Fairy Hair”, my sister-n-law has sold new and slightly used vintage clothing, shoes and accessories online for a couple of years now, so I asked her if she would like to be a part of the boutique with selling her items which is called Karri’s Korner, so we are now a family owned boutique.

We opened the boutique last October of 2025 and we have added a few new things since we have opened. 1. Engravable jewelry which comes in a variety of different stainless steel colors and I purchased a portable engraver for this service which customers can walk out within minutes with their item. 2. My son Jacob with J&J Candle Cafe has also added a station in the boutique where customers can come in and create their own candles, by picking a sense, a jar and creating their own lables for their jars. 3. A new vendor called Bougie Hats has recenlty moved into the boutique and you can come in and design your own hat with chains and broochs or you can choose to purchase one of their cute hats already designed. We have a sitting area that we have where customers can take pictures in front of a wall of neon lights. We offer private parties and host fun open houses for different occassions.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes, it has been a smooth road for all of us. We took our time with getting the boutique ready which was about 2 months.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I myself as the owner speicalize in permanent jewelry services, where the customer choose from a varaity of chains offered in 14K gold filled, sterline silver or 14K rose gold filled, they can choose to add a charm or connector which are offered in 14k gold filled or sterling silver to add to their chain, I measure the area of their choice (wrist, ankle and neck), connect the two ends of the chain with a jump ring and weld the jump ring closed which makes it permanent jewelry. You can always remove the chain by cutting at the jump ring if you need to remove the chain for any reason.

What I’m most proud about is taking the steps in becoming a business owner. I never thought in a million years that I would be a business owner.

I think what sets us apart from other boutiques in our area is that we offer multipal servies where as most boutiques only offer different types of merchandise. We offer private parties and host open houses for different occassions.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Waking up feeling proud, joyful, and excited about life and I now feel like I have control over my own time, decisions, and future is how I define sucess. Staying true to yourself and treating others as you want to be treated.
