Conversations with Candace Roufail

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Roufail.

Hi Candace, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I actually knew I wanted to be a Realtor straight out of high school. I interviewed with a brokerage and was sure it’s the direction I wanted to go. At that time I felt pressured to go the traditional college route and ultimately went to college. Years later I moved to the Outer Banks in North Carolina where I worked in property management and eventually an assistant to the top Realtor in the area. I knew then I had to move forward with my career in Real Estate. I moved back to Ohio, took classes and passed my test on the first attempt. Now, almost 10 years in and I know I’m right where I’m meant to be.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! There’s no easy or smooth route in this industry. It’s hard work, late nights, missed events, lots of lunches in your car parked in a random parking lot. It’s the most stressful job I’ve ever had but also extremely fulfilling. Those first few years I was a “yes girl”, I said yes to every client, every opportunity, everything I could. It drained me so much. I realized I wanted to create a better life for myself not just financially but also personally. I now have so much more time with my family, friends and for myself. It can be a difficult balance because it is such a fast paced go, go, go type of career. Luckily, I have a great team and amazing support system.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a full time Realtor in North East Ohio. I specialize in helping buyers find their perfect home and guiding sellers through the listing process. In addition to that I manage a team with two other agents, allowing us to service a vast area with each agent really knowledgeable on specific counties. I’m most proud of making it this long. This industry is extremely tough and at times a thankless job. There’s so much behind the scenes that the average person just doesn’t know. We deal with a lot as agents, and it’s important to remember your “why”. I always have that in the back of my mind. Why I do this, why I have to keep going. I am proud of being extremely knowledgeable in the law and ethics of real estate. I pride myself on being thorough from start to finish. I put my clients needs and wants first and advocate for them to the best of my ability.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Christmas Eve has always been a favorite of mine. Opening one gift from under the tree, new Christmas pajamas and watching A Christmas Story on TNT. Something I still do to this day and now I have started the same tradition with my daughter. I even made it happen when she was one day old. I had her on December 23rd, left the hospital on Christmas Eve and got home just in time to start her on my favorite childhood tradition.
