Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffani Cantrell.
Hi Tiffani, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve had a passion to help the elderly. My grandmother passed away when I was 15. My aunt passed away when I was 16 and that impact in my life because I was a caregiver at the ages of 13 to 16 years old so I have been doing this for quite a while. I just remember helping my grandmother when she was sick. I would stay with her a lot and help her. She had to be on oxygen. She had COPD so she needs a lot of help.
Then I remember helping my aunt she had breast cancer and she went through chemotherapy had to get half of her breast removed and then it went away. She was in remission for about six months and then it came back bone cancer so she couldn’t get up and walk so I had to help her clean, take baths grocery running.
So that’s when I decided to start being a personal care aid I have been doing it since I was around 22 years old I am now 40 and it is my passion to take care of people to love them like they are my grandmother or my aunt and I expect my employees to do the same. So I was working for this company about three months ago and I ran into an old friend that said hey you know you can start your own company right so that’s what I did,and I’m loving the journey!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth sailing. I have run into obstacles a lot but I’m putting my head on straight and figuring each one out one by one.
