Inspiring Conversations with Amy Duvic of Glass and Grace Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Duvic.

Hi Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the Dayton area and attended the University of Dayton. During my freshman year of college, I started working for a wedding planner in Cincinnati, and that experience completely changed the direction of my career. I instantly fell in love with the wedding industry — it combined so many things I naturally enjoy: organization, attention to detail, creativity, and getting to be part of such meaningful moments in people’s lives.

After several years of gaining experience and working on a wide range of weddings, including large and luxury events, I decided to start my own company, Glass and Grace Events. My goal was to create a planning experience that felt both highly organized and deeply personal for couples.

Today, Glass and Grace specializes in full-service planning and design as well as wedding coordination. Our approach is very collaborative — we help couples explore creative ideas, stay organized throughout the planning process, and ultimately make sure their wedding day flows smoothly so they can truly enjoy it.
One of my favorite parts of this work is the relationships that form throughout the planning process. By the time the wedding day arrives, many of our clients truly feel like friends, which makes being part of their celebration even more special.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most small businesses, it definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Building a business in the wedding industry requires a lot of patience and persistence, especially in the early years when you’re working to build trust, relationships, and a strong reputation.

In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was simply getting my name out there and establishing credibility. Weddings are such an important milestone for couples, so earning that trust takes time. I spent a lot of time networking with vendors, assisting on weddings, and continuously refining my processes and planning approach.

Another challenge has been learning how to balance creativity with logistics. Weddings are beautiful and emotional events, but they also require extremely detailed coordination and problem solving behind the scenes. Developing systems that allow everything to run smoothly while still delivering a really personalized experience for each couple has been a big part of the growth of Glass and Grace.

But those challenges ultimately shaped the business into what it is today. They helped me build stronger systems, deeper vendor relationships, and a planning approach that is both thoughtful and highly organized — which is exactly what our couples need.

We’ve been impressed with Glass and Grace Events, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Glass and Grace Events is a wedding planning and design company based in Dayton, Ohio, serving couples throughout Dayton, Cincinnati, and the surrounding areas. We specialize in full-service wedding planning and design as well as wedding coordination, working closely with couples to bring their vision to life while ensuring the entire planning process feels organized, thoughtful, and enjoyable.

Our approach is very collaborative. We guide couples through every step – from developing the overall design and aesthetic to building timelines, managing vendors, and overseeing all of the behind-the-scenes logistics that make a wedding day run smoothly. We love helping couples explore creative ideas while also making sure every detail is carefully planned and executed.
What sets Glass and Grace apart is the balance between creativity and structure. Weddings are incredibly personal events, and we take the time to truly understand what matters most to each couple. At the same time, we are known for being extremely detail-oriented and organized, which allows couples to feel confident that everything is handled and that they can fully enjoy their wedding day.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Glass and Grace has built a reputation for both professionalism and genuine care. Many of our couples become friends by the time the wedding day arrives, and we work hard to create an experience that feels supportive, calm, and seamless throughout the entire process.

Ultimately, what I want readers to know is that our goal is not just to plan beautiful weddings – it’s to create a planning experience that allows couples to feel present, excited, and taken care of as they celebrate one of the most meaningful days of their lives.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the things I love most about Dayton is the incredibly supportive and collaborative vendor community. The wedding industry here is filled with talented creatives who genuinely enjoy working together and helping each other succeed. Because many of us work together frequently, there’s a strong sense of trust and teamwork that ultimately benefits our couples. It makes the planning process smoother and allows us to create really thoughtful, well-executed celebrations.

Dayton also has such a unique mix of venues and spaces – from historic locations like the Arcade and Carillon Park to beautiful outdoor settings and modern venues – which gives couples a lot of flexibility in creating a wedding that feels personal to them.

If there’s one challenge, it’s that Dayton is sometimes overlooked compared to larger cities nearby. There is so much talent and so many incredible venues here, and I think people are often surprised by just how beautiful and creative weddings in Dayton can be. But that also makes it exciting – it feels like we’re part of a growing and evolving event community that continues to elevate what’s possible in the region.
