Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Coleman.
Hi Marcus, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Marcus Coleman is a creative strategist, entrepreneur, and community builder with nearly two decades of experience helping brands grow with clarity, purpose, and impact. He is the CEO and Executive Creative Director of Baruch Design & Company, a full-service creative and marketing agency founded in 2006 that serves small businesses, nonprofits, and mid-size organizations across multiple industries.
With a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing from Full Sail University, Marcus specializes in brand strategy, web design and development, digital marketing, and storytelling that drives measurable results. Under his leadership, Baruch Design & Company has partnered with organizations ranging from local startups to national corporations, delivering work that is both visually compelling and strategically sound. Marcus plans to pursue his Doctor of Strategic Leadership in the from Liberty University in the Fall of 2027.
Beyond client work, Marcus is deeply committed to community development, youth empowerment, and faith-based leadership. He is actively involved in mentoring young entrepreneurs, supporting fatherhood and family-focused initiatives, and creating platforms that help creatives and business owners access opportunity. His work consistently bridges creativity, business, and purpose.
His work is guided by a core belief he often shares: that “we all have two callings in life—our vocational calling, which provides for us, and our spiritual calling, which enriches the lives of others”. Without both, he believes we’re not fully living, and the key to a meaningful life is discovering and walking in each. This philosophy shapes his mentorship, community initiatives, and approach to leadership.
Marcus is also the host of the podcast “Your Nxt Is Now,” (launching in 2026) where he shares insights on entrepreneurship, personal branding, leadership, and taking action in business and life.
Known for his practical wisdom, collaborative approach, and heart for service, Marcus believes great design—and great leadership—should always create impact beyond the bottom line.
Marcus married his amazing wife, Susanne, in 2008. They are the proud parents of their son, Marcus Jr., and a pug mix named Ace.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my favorite quotes is “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor,” Theodore Roosevelt. Over the last two decades, my journey has not been without struggle. But I honestly believe that struggle has the power and potential to develop both character and strength. I’ve always held firmly to the belief that life isn’t about what you are going through as much as how you let what you are going through define you. You are not your struggles; you are the next greatest success story in the making.
I’ve had slow years, tough personal seasons, and even a serious business downturn during COVID. However, I’ve always maintained an optimistic outlook and a determination to build the agency that I run today. One of the scriptures that has been my guide throughout my time has been Romans 8:28, which reads, “all things work together for the good of those that love God and are called according to His Purpose. So, good, bad, or indifferent, I believe that all parts of my story have been valuable, tightly woven together as a beautiful tapestry. I don’t have any regrets.
I recently lost my Father, Willie R. Coleman — of whom, without his foresight, there wouldn’t be a Baruch Design & Co. to speak of — and it has been one of the toughest times of my life, but I am determined to honor his life, influence, and legacy through my work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Baruch Design & Company is proudly based in Cleveland, Ohio, partnering with organizations locally and across the country. We understand regional markets, community impact, and the importance of strong local presence — while delivering the level of strategy expected on a national scale. We are a “full-service creative agency” specializing in professional branding, web design, graphic design, social media, and digital marketing.
For nearly two decades, business & community leaders have trusted Baruch to clarify their message, strengthen their presence, and position their organizations for long-term success. We partner with decision-makers to align creative strategy with real business goals.
One of the greatest joys of my career has been partnering with entrepreneurs who are building from the ground up. Nothing motivates me more than standing shoulder to shoulder with a client, helping them shape a brand and the systems behind it—so what they’re building today can grow, scale, and outlive the moment. Often we partner with startups and small business owners who are building with intention and understand that strong branding and strategic marketing are foundational — not optional. Many of our clients come to us when they are: Scaling and need a stronger digital presence, repositioning their brand, modernizing outdated websites, launching new initiatives, or seeking measurable marketing performance.
At Baruch Design & Company, we take a client’s vision and help bring it to life—building the brands, websites, and marketing systems they need to grow.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am a firm believer of the statement, “where there isn’t any risk, there isn’t any reward”. I believe that risk-taking is central to the ethos of the entrepreneur. When it comes to risks and even challenges, I believe that, while we have to count the cost of our decisions, we also have to enter into any endeavor or effort with the outcome in mind.
Most recently, I decided to reopen Yellabee Printing, our screenprinting shop. I found a realtor, sought out the property, signed the lease, and started renovations. Most may see this as a risk, but I see growth. In taking risks, I always launch out with the end in mind. I think the most important trait of a risk-taker is the ability to silence the noise of self-doubt, critics, and bet on yourself and your own future. People like to keep you at the level of how they are comfortable knowing you.
We should never shink to the level of others’ low expectations.
