Daily Inspiration: Meet Jennifer Rudolph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Rudolph.

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Studio Muse began as a small salon suite in Strongsville with my business partner and I. In 2016, after outgrowing that space, we invested in an 8-chair salon in Brecksville. Formerly Salon Jovan, the space came with a handful of stylists and existing equipment. We gave ourselves one year to completely revamp and renew it.

Instead, we gutted and remodeled the entire salon in just one month. Our salon walls came to life with artwork from local artists, spotlighting the heart and talent of Cleveland’s creative community.

We implemented an exclusive color and retail line, Davines, and focused on attracting talented stylists from nearby cities to join our growing team. With an overabundance of clients ourselves, we were grateful to bring in incredible artists to serve everyone who walked through our doors.

In 2022, we purchased a second salon in North Royalton. In 2023, my business partner and I decided to separate professionally and operate independently at the second location, leaving me as the sole owner. It wasn’t something I ever imagined for myself, but after navigating so many changes and challenges, I now know this is exactly where I’m meant to be.

Today, we are busier than ever — but more importantly, happier than ever. My team works together with honesty and respect. We have a deeper love for our craft, for each other, and for ourselves — and it shows, in our work and on our faces.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When the pandemic hit in 2020, the fear of closing was jolting. We pushed forward, following every protocol and accommodating as many guests as possible. Shortly after, we faced another major challenge when 7 stylists left to start their own independent businesses. While they had our full support, losing nearly our entire team only months after a global shutdown was a significant blow.

Through intensive training, restructuring, and some hard but necessary conversations, we rebuilt from the inside out. Growth returned quickly.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
It’s difficult to choose just one category because our salon is more than a place to get your hair done. We are a space where talent grows.

We of course love to create beautiful hair, but we also prioritize in developing confident, successful professionals. I’m constantly working with new students and assistants, who grow into stylists, and eventually independent artists. Watching that evolution is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Our team specializes in advanced color work and precision haircutting, but what truly defines us is our strength in education, consultation, support and amazing product knowledge. Technical skill matters, but character, confidence, and consistency matter more.

Personally, yes, I can cut any head of hair, but my true specialty is mentorship. I guide my team to recognize their potential, embrace their individuality, and appreciate every part of themselves, including their flaws. Growth happens when people feel supported, not judged.

What sets us apart is our culture of humble support. We genuinely want each other to win. Their success is my priority — and that shared commitment creates an environment where both our stylists and our clients thrive.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes.
-Do not be afraid to ask questions.
-Do not let anyone treat you with disrespect.
-Do not neglect your body. Eat right and exercise. Trust me. This job is physically and mentally brutal. You need your health and brainpower. You will be part stylist, counselor, scientist and accountant.

Take care of yourself mentally then the first 3 suggestions will be a breeze.
