Today we’d like to introduce you to Quaneshia Flemming.
Hi Quaneshia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Quan’s House in August 2022, a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) designed to provide a safe, structured, and trauma-informed residential environment for youth in need of stability and support. This was a vision that had been on my heart for years. After working in corrections for over 20 years and previously serving in a supervisory role at a children’s shelter, I saw firsthand how much our youth need structure, stability, guidance, and genuine support. I knew I wanted to create a home that not only provided safety, but also helped young people build confidence, life skills, and a foundation for success.
What began as an idea has grown into something I am incredibly proud of. Through hard work, long nights, policy development, and a commitment to doing things the right way, Quan’s House will now be accredited by The Joint Commission a major milestone that reflects the quality and standards I have worked so hard to uphold.
Now, as we prepare to officially open our doors, I am grateful for how far we have come since 2022. This journey has been built on faith, perseverance, and a true passion for helping youth succeed. Quan’s House is no longer just a vision it is a reality, and we are ready to make an impact.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, not at all. And honestly, that’s what makes the story so powerful.
Building Quan’s House from the ground up required real sacrifice, long nights, discipline, and unwavering faith. I self-funded this vision, investing my own resources because I believed in the mission that deeply. There were challenges, delays, steep learning curves, and moments that truly tested my strength. I had to create policies from scratch, align everything with Ohio regulations, prepare for Joint Commission accreditation, develop staffing models, and push through every obstacle that came my way. It wasn’t easy but I never gave up.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Quan’s House?
Quan’s House is a Joint Commission Accredited and state-licensed nonprofit residential youth group home located in Dayton, Ohio, serving youth ages 11–17 who need a safe, structured, and supportive environment. I created Quan’s House to provide more than just housing, I built it to offer stability, accountability, mentorship, and life-skills development for youth facing family disruption, behavioral challenges, or placement instability. My focus is on trauma-informed care, behavioral support, and preparing young people for independent and successful adulthood.
What sets Quan’s House apart is the balance of structure and compassion. With over 20 years of experience in corrections and leadership, I bring a strong foundation in safety, supervision, and behavioral management, while remaining deeply committed to healing and youth empowerment. I ensure our program operates in full alignment with Ohio Department of Children and Youth regulations and Joint Commission standards, reflecting our commitment to quality, compliance, and measurable outcomes.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that Quan’s House feels like a home with purpose, where expectations are clear, dignity is protected, and growth is intentional. I want people to know that Quan’s House is not just a placement option; it is a place where transformation begins and futures are rebuilt.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was very driven and focused. I was a star basketball player in high school and went on to compete at the collegiate level. Basketball taught me discipline, teamwork, resilience, and how to lead under pressure, lessons that still guide me today. I was an all-around athlete, always active and competitive, but I stayed humble through it all.
Even back then, I loved helping people. I’ve always had a servant’s heart and believed in uplifting others. Whether it was supporting my teammates, mentoring younger students, or just being someone others could depend on, I naturally stepped into leadership roles. Athletics built my confidence, but my humility and desire to see others succeed shaped who I truly am.
