Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Smith.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Frame Shop was started in 1975 by Jack and Kay McLaughlin. We are a family, full service Customer Picture Framing Shop. We have been in business for just over 50 years. I am the second generation owner, along with my Husband Steve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes it has been a smooth road. We continue to grow and add other processes and products to our shop and gallery. Long days, but all worth it!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My parents started out as The Craft House, which offered consignment art and craft items, along with art, gift and craft supplies. ( Way before the big box stores). Custom picture framing was started in my Dad’s garage. It grew and he had to separate the two businesses. That is when The Frame Shop became its own shop. They kept the two businesses separate until 1982, when The Craft House closed. The Frame Shop has grown into four different locations. We were the first Custom Picture Framing shop in our town. We have seen others come and go. We offer great service and excellent work, at an affordable price. Everything is done by us here on location. We try to carry on the trade and it’s set of learned skills over time. We do a lot of restoration work, paintings and frames, and have access to photo restoration too. Shadow box, jersey and textile framing is a lot of what we do. I am most proud that we have been serving the Lancaster area and surrounding communities for over fifty years. We have made many Friendships and they have trusted us with their valuable art and objects. I am glad that we have been able to help preserve their special items and memories.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
