Daily Inspiration: Meet Laura Moreo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Moreo.

Hi Laura, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always knew at a very young age I wanted to be a hairstylist. I graduated from Vantage Career Center in 2003 as a licensed cosmetologist. I had a great mentor that I began working with in the small town of Continental. I loved my career. I was accepted into Paul Mitchell Education to become an educator in 2011. That dream of being a platform artist slowly faded away. I realized what I truly craved was one on one connection with people. I wanted to create an environment where my clients felt seen, heard, comfortable, and relaxed.
Creating the Hair Affair began as a fun way to share before and after pictures of my clients hair. Now The Hair Affair is a private salon suite offering my clients a space to feel renewed and confident.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has not been a simple straight road to success. I have overcame many obstacles. At 21, I was diagnosed with a rare form of uterine cancer. I had many surgeries, long trips to Columbus for treatment. I am cancer free today! I had other health issues over the years that led to me take time away from behind the chair. At one point, I wasn’t certain I would be able to continue working in this industry.
But my love for this industry has always spoke to my heart. I was raised to always do what you love and money will come. I am a firm believer in that. I just had to find a balance that worked for myself. I have finally created that vision I always had. It’s about quality not quantity!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in blonding services. I have always had a love for blonde hair and the challenge of getting lifting hair without damage to the clients desired result. Foil placement is a true art and one of my favorite techniques. I am also known for trendy short haircuts! I have a lot of short haired clients that love the extra detail and precision I put into their cut.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years I see the hair trends circling back in time. I think volume, fullness, bouncy curls will be in style. Shag haircuts with more of lived in color will be popular. I think our prices will dramatically increase as the products seem to become more expensive over the years. Great hair is definitely becoming a luxury than a necessity.

Pricing:

  • Haircuts $28-$34
  • Full highlights $120
  • Vivids/Custom Color $150 and up
