Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Phillips.
Hi Bonnie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As long as I can remember, I have used imagery as a way to connect with others and build a sense of purpose.
Growing up, I was obsessed with my family photos and preserving our family history. I took film photography in high school, and learned all about the dark room process. No matter where I was, I always had a camera in hand.
After leaving a stressful role with a Fortune 500 company, I turned to my camera as a creative outlet. I started a blog to share photos from international travels as well as just everyday life. Creating the blog was fun and it helped me discover a few unexpected opportunities. I ended up accepting a role with a competitive photography internship. There wasn’t a clear path to pursue, but I followed my intuition follow my passion.
The past 10+ years I have been photographing brands, portraits, headshots, and everything in between. No two days are alike, and I am constantly blown away by the depth of talent, vision, and humanity in our community here in Cincinnati.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a smooth road, but that doesn’t always mean I have known where the road was going.
The photography industry is constantly evolving. From technology to social media platforms, and of course, AI. There is something new everyday. The pace at which software and tools hit the market is incredible, but that can also create a lot of noise.
Having a strong desire to learn, grow and lead with curiosity keeps things fresh for me. I have to balance the rapidly evolving industry with knowing what works for me. There will be trends, and things that work well for other photographers, but it’s really important to stay focused on your brand and what matters most.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
A lot of my clients are small business owners, community leaders, and parents juggling it all. I help make space for what matters most. Whether that’s creating stunning visuals to help tell their brand’s story, updating a headshot for a killer first impression, or capturing a fleeting moment in family life — we will make it beautiful and authentically you.
I am so proud of my clients. They place trust in my ability to tell their stories. The dedication my clients pour into their work, families, and communities is so inspiring.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I love a good founder / origin story. I would love to opportunity to connect with more artists, founders, and families here in Cincinnati and beyond.
