Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Fahey.
Hi Jamie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been in the electrical trades for about 13 years. It all started in Cincinnati when I decided to take the electrical course at Kaplan College. The first day of school they taught us how to hook up a single pole switch to a light. When I had finished and the light came on, it made me fall in love with electric. After graduating, I worked at multiple companies throughout the years. Being a female in the trade was difficult at first. I had to prove myself multiple times. On one particular job, I met a man named Jimmy. He never looked at me like I was just someone who wouldn’t make it. He was always very kind to me and let me know that I was good enough. That man is now my other half. We got together in 2020, and it’s been us ever since. He never wanted to own a business, but he always supported my dreams. In January of 2023 we decided to register J&J Electrical Solutions with the state of Ohio. Maintaining a full-time job while trying to get the business off the ground was a little tough. I managed to do it for a full year. Then January 2nd of 2024, I decided to leave the company I was working for and go full time with our company. Here we are in 2026 and I couldn’t be more proud of how far the company has come. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for us and our family. It’s been a rough ride, but I am so grateful for all the blessings I have received in life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing has been a smooth ride. You never know when it’s the perfect time to jump and start your dreams. I was defiantly scared that the business wouldn’t succeed. Sometimes it is stressful, but I wouldn’t want to do it for anyone else. Being a female in the trade and having to prove yourself over and over was probably the hardest part of the trade. I am not built like these men are, so they always doubted me. I worked with one guy who was an older electrician, he never worked with a female before. He told me one day that I needed to go work in a nail salon. After he realized that I wasn’t just a typical female and could actually do this work, told me I was the best helper he ever had. That made me work even harder to show everyone I can do it. I successfully passed my electrical exam and became a licensed electrician in the state. The day I passed that test was like a ode to all the people who said I would never make it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We provide electrical services for residential and commercial customers. Our company is known for our great prices, knowledge and professionalism. We offer free estimates, as well as discounts on labor for the seniors, first responders and veterans/military personal. I think what sets us apart from other companies is the fact we can provide fast reliable services for a great price. Our customers love us. My ultimate goal is to be the choice electrician for the Springboro and surrounding areas.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I would say the person who has always played a big role in this life is my other half Jimmy. No matter what, he has always been there for me. Anytime I had doubts about anything, he is always there to let me know that I am a badass and can overcome anything that is put in front of me. I would also say my children have been a big role in my success as well. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have tried to better my life and become what I am today.
