Check Out Whitney Wicks’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Wicks.

Hi Whitney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I’m Whitney, artist, gardener, & nature enthusiast. For many years, I have enjoyed collecting tropical plants, creating a unique landscape of living decor in my home. I love sharing the gift of plants with my community & started selling small plants after being laid off from my long time job in the mortgage industry while planning a wedding & honeymoon. By the end of the summer I was selling nearly 100 plants a week off my porch. I launched The Plant Aunt on November 9th, 2024, my 2 Year anniversary of sobriety.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think there will always be struggles when something is new. As a sober person in recovery, I wanted to do my best to put good things out into the world. My goal is to offer a safe & inclusive space to enjoy nature together & empower my community.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in unique, colorful plants, succulents, cacti & their care. In addition to Make & Take events & Plant Parties, I offer a private plant shopping experience with hundreds of unique tropicals to choose from. I wanted to provide alternative activities for kids & adults to have the opportunity to cultivate their relationship with nature. My nephew, Malakai gave me the inspiration for my Kids Garden Club, which is one of the things I’m most proud of.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a child I always loved escaping into nature & letting my imagination run wild.
