Meet Kimberly Reynolds of Lebanon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Reynolds.

Kimberly Reynolds

Hi Kimberly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
At The BrickHouse on Broadway Personalized Gift Shop we offer unique, one of a kind items for our customers utilizing engraving, embroidery, vinyl applications, and specialized printing. Many of our items are made to mark special events for our customers such as weddings, baby gifts, showers, retirement gifts, achievement awards, and many other memorable occasions. We also enjoy working with small businesses & corporations to create or utilize their existing logo for marketing items such as; apparel, portfolios, giveaways, etc. Our customers have the option to choose from our large selection of items or bring in their own items for decoration. They can copy our ideas or come up with their own. We have samples on display, books of designs, or sometimes we just pop online for inspiration. We create our own graphic art here in house so we can take an idea from a concept to a completed design. From there it is just a matter of what our customer would like to put it on and how we will make that happen. The majority of our item decoration happens in house so our staff/makers must be creative, have the necessary computer skills, but also must have the technical ability to operate the machines used as well, and to top that off, have good customer relations too. This is quite an ask but our makers have stepped up to the task.
One of the things that our customers appreciate is that we keep them in the loop from their first contact, approval of the art we have created, to a final photo sent of their completed item(s). We offer order shipping or a 90 day pick up window for in person pick up.
I am very happy to say that once we make a customer, they return again and again. That is a true testament that we must be doing something right!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My stepmother, Brenda Jacob was the founder of The BrickHouse starting with just one engraving machine at the flea market. She moved the shop to a brick & mortar location in beautiful Downtown Lebanon, OH & continued to offer more decoration services to create the unique concept that we still offer today. In 2018 Brenda made the decision to close the store and we decided to buy the business lock, stock, and barrel. After acquiring the store from Brenda, she and her assistant Barbie, were very helpful in the transition and teaching us the technical aspects of how to run the machines, etc. but even so, there was a huge learning curve to get through. Through trial and error we’ve learned so much but still, we learn new things everyday.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What makes the BrickHouse on Broadway so unique from other businesses is that we create one of a kind items specializing in small orders. There are many makers who offer the same services we do but you must buy their premade items. There are just as many makers who offer the same services for custom items but they have minimum quantity requirements. In our shop you can purchase a one of a kind item but also just one of that item. And, since we keep our customers in the design loop their fears that they wont get what they want or asked for is alleviated. The fact that we are a brick and mortar shop holds us to account for good customer service and workmanship. Folks won’t come back if we falter on either of those. This is why many of our customers choose us over online shopping.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the charm of Downtown Lebanon, Ohio. On our family travels, we seek out small towns as we go and honestly, the beauty & charm of Downtown Lebanon is hard to match. The Historic buildings are so lovely and well cared for. As it expands, the City of Lebanon has and is doing an excellent job of keeping the Historic feel and the walkability of the Historic Downtown shopping district. There are so many unique shops & restaurants, a wonderful museum, train rides, and many festivals and events making Downtown Lebanon, OH a travel destination.
