Hidden Gems: Meet Paige Beckwith of Theia Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Beckwith.

Paige Beckwith

Hi Paige, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the beauty industry started the summer of 2020, shortly after I graduated from high school. I had always been interested in all things beauty when I was younger. I spent countless weekends at sleepovers playing “salon” and pretending to be a spa owner with my little sister & my cousin. After I graduated high school, I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take when it came to college and deciding on a major. At the time, I was working as a file clerk for a law firm (one of the routes I considered for a career was criminal justice/victim advocacy). As time went on, I really couldn’t see myself in an office, or courtroom for that matter, for the rest of my career. I decided to pursue something I’ve had a passion for ever since I can remember and enrolled in the esthetics program at Brown Aveda.

Before my program even started, I took an eyelash extension course as it was the one service that really piqued my interest. I really enjoyed it and continued to practice on a mannequin and even my fellow classmates throughout beauty school. During orientation at Aveda, an instructor asked each of us what our ultimate goal was. Mine was to open my own business and build my own clientele from the ground up.

Fast forward to September of 2021. I graduated from Brown Aveda and went on to pass my state board exam & got licensed. I got my first job waxing for a popular chain in October of 2021, and worked there for about four months until I found an opening to do the one thing that I really wanted to do; Lash Extensions.

It only took me a month of doing lashes as an employee before I realized I wanted to take the next step and start to work towards the ultimate goal I had spoken about during my orientation. Now don’t get me wrong, going out on your own as a brand new esthetician with no established clientele is NOT the brightest thing to do, and I’d honestly advise against it. I just felt like there was no better time than now, and that waiting for the “right timing” would allow me to get too comfortable where I was at. I was 20 years old and fortunate enough to have parents that allowed me to stay at home while I started to make my dream a reality. That’s not an opportunity that most people get, and I couldn’t let it slip away.

I officially opened my business in May of 2022, with just lash extensions and full body waxing on my service menu. Since then, I’ve operated out of a couple different salon-suite style locations, added more services to my menu (lash lifts, brow lamination, brow tinting, etc.), and continued to grow my clientele and my relationships with those clients year after year. It really is true what they say, when you love your job you never have to work a day in your life.

Starting February of 2026, my business will no longer be in a salon suite, but instead will be operating out of a cozy storefront in the heart of Mentor. I feel so fortunate to have been able to turn my passion into a functioning business and to have accomplished everything I set my sights on less than 4 years ago. I’m so excited to continue to grow, meet new people, foster new friendships & community, and most importantly, provide a space for women to feel safe, comfortable & cared for while they treat themselves to various beauty services.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been the smoothest road, but I went into this knowing it wouldn’t be easy. I knew it would take time to build and I was and still am determined to continue to grow and learn each day. There were definitely times where I felt like this might not be for me. Having days with no clients and no new inquiries can feel really demoralizing, but what ultimately sets anyone apart from everyone else is not giving up when it seems hopeless. I was drawn down this path for a reason, and nothing will knock me off of it. The reward is too great. Outside of helping women feel confident and beautiful, I truly get to connect with them and offer them a space to get their thoughts out without facing any judgement. One of the best feelings is hearing my clients tell me how much they look forward to coming in and just talking about whatever it is they have going on. I feel so lucky that they see me as a safe space.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Theia Beauty is an esthetic salon specializing in lash & brow services. I offer lash extensions that prioritize the health of the natural lashes. I also offer face & body waxing. My goal is to enhance your existing beauty and provide a relaxing experience in a peaceful environment.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like most about Mentor is the opportunity it presents for small businesses like mine. I think it’s a great city to operate out of and it is well maintained. I don’t have any specific thing that I’d say I don’t like about Mentor.
