Today we’d like to introduce you to Myles Elliott.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born here in Cincinnati, and when I was in high school, I took an interest in photography. Once I graduated, I actually put my camera down to join the Army, and 30 days before my ship date to boot camp, I got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Since then I’ve been playing music and taking photos since. I didn’t really start taking it seriously until 2020 when we were all stuck in the house that it would be something I’d absolutely love to do, I almost feel naked without a camera in my hand.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life is never smooth. My music director had a quote that I still live by and that’s “As in music, so in life.” Music has moments that are smooth don’t get me wrong but good music takes you on a journey of discovery, emotions, feelings and everything else tied to it. My photography journey and life journey has done the same. I’ve been blessed enough that people see my work and enjoy it as well as enjoying the process it takes to create it. There are times I’ve had to go back to basics in my creative process, my way of thinking, shooting and the business and it never ceases to amaze me what more I can learn and continue to push forward.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a multi-published professional musician, and photographer in a nutshell. I specialize in Fashion, Concert and Editorial photography. I’m known for thinking out of the box, unique styles and having fun while doing expert level work. The thing I’m most proud of is being able to create, and my children because they got the best parts of my creativity. What sets me apart from others is my vision and how I work, I use life and music as a guide to help me and others around me create some beautiful bodies of work.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think with the introduction of AI, this industry will thrive even more so than it already has. AI has taken some of the guesswork out of it so that we can be more creative. The shift will be whether or not we adapt to the technology and learn with and from it vs in shunning it away.
