Today we’d like to introduce you to Linden Avenue Baptist Church.
Hi Linden Avenue, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Linden Avenue Baptist Church, affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of Ohio, was built in 1873.. In over it’s 152 years of existence, this church has helped start 5 other churches.
Jesus said to love the Lord with everything we have and to love our neighbor as ourselves. I believe Linden Ave is still alive and thriving because of following this commandment
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Right before I was called to pastor the church, the membership was down to 15 people. The neighborhood had changed drastically and there was a lot of division amongst members that brought it to this point.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My job is to equip people in their spiritual growth, help them understand the Bible and the gifts God has given them to serve Him and others. And in that whole process people learn to share their faith because they realize how much Jesus means to them.
I am super proud of this loving congregation! We are an eclectic group of people which gives us a lot of practice at loving all kinds of personalities.
I am told that I am a pastor who shows a special love for the congregation and our city..
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the historical significance of Dayton! Most inventions per capita; Inventions that changed the world!
The human sex trafficking that continues to happen within our city is a terrible part of our city’s life.
