Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Tinsley.
Hi Kim, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Jazzercise has been around for 55 years, and Jazzercise Loveland has been around for over 20 years. I discovered Jazzercise Loveland as a young working mom, looking for a place where I could move, connect with other adults, and de-stress (and babysitting was included!!) Jazzercise gave me one hour a day that was just for me so that I could dance, laugh, and build strength and health. Giving myself that hour helped me to be a better mother, colleague, and person. Since becoming owner, my focus has been on creating a culture to welcome all people and providing a space for self-love and joy, and giving each person the gift of one hour in which they are not a parent, not a child, not a spouse but just a person, able to unplug and dance their worries away.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an owner of Jazzercise comes with challenges. The stereotypes of “Jazzercise” add challenges to bringing new customers in. People will often tease and say “that was my mother’s workout” or ask, “Isn’t that like Sweating to the Oldies?” No!!! We do not do leotards and leg warmers, and we are anything but your “mother’s workout.” We are also not a Zumba class! A typical class is set to today’s hits with fresh choreography and a focus on BOTH cardio and strength training. This is why Jazzercise has lasting power and has been around for over 55 years.
We’ve been impressed with Jazzercise Loveland Fitness Center , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jazzercise Loveland provides a full body workout, and formats include cardio and strength training in every set. A traditional class is referred to as Cardio Sculpt 60, but we also offer interval sets called Power Sculpt, and my personal favorite, Vital Sculpt HIIT, which is designed to support intense cardio and strength training for perimenopausal women and supported by science. However, the sense of community is what I’m most proud of. As a group, we have become friends and celebrate each other’s milestones, come together for holidays, participate in several community fundraisers, and host regular outings, book clubs, and in-studio parties. Members are encouraged to participate as much or as little as they like in community events, but I can guarantee you will make a friend and find people with common interests. Working out is always more fun with a friend. I’m proud of the community we have developed. This is a very positive, judgment free zone for everyone. All ages, sizes and ability levels are welcome.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are always looking for opportunities to connect with our local community. People are able to reach out via email, phone, text and social media!
We have partnered with a local yoga instructor, Stacey Shirley, who offers yoga classes on Thursday evenings at 7 pm.
