Exploring Life & Business with Madelyn Recker of SKNMUSE x Madelyn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madelyn Recker.

Hi Madelyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started in the esthetics industry around September of 2021. In the beginning, I focused heavily on my skill, education, and the customer experience I could give clients. In November of 2024, I was found myself in a position to open my own esthetics spa. I wanted to create a space that was calming and had good energy the moment you entered the room. For me personally, I had a hard time finding something that met my standards, so I decided to create it.

Restarting again is not easy, and you question your decisions often. But as the months went on, I found the success come too. In January of 2026 I will be celebrating my first year owning a business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a business, big or small, will never be 100% smooth. When I was starting out, another entrepreneur told me “If it’s meant to be, it shouldn’t be hard.” That has really stuck with me through the process of opening. So many of the big things did go really smoothly and were in a sense easy. It truly felt like things were working out how they were supposed to. I believe it’s important to move forward with a sense of peace. Never forcing situations.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SKNMUSE x Madelyn?
I opened SKNMUSE x Madelyn in January 2024 as an estheics spa in Central Columbus. I specialize in repairing damaged skin barriers, acne, and anti aging. Some services you will find on my menu are custom facials, glacial facials, microchanelling, dermaplaning, and sugar waxing.

I am so passionate about connecting with my clients. I will also my honest with you about whatever journey you are on. There is never judgment because everyone starts somewhere and I love being the one to guide each individual to the point where they love their skin. No matter if you are here to unwind, catch up, or a little of both, I take that time to pour my energy into the client and their service.

MUSE means inspiration and my goal for each of my clients, is for them to “be their own muse”.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I would predict that injectables start to take a back seat and people start focusing on their lymphatic system, red light therapy, and facial massaging. You never know, but that would be my guess!
