Life & Work with DeAngelo of Dayton, OH

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAngelo.

Hi DeAngelo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story really starts with a genuine love for storytelling and a curiosity for how visuals can impact people. I didn’t grow up with a traditional path into filmmaking — no film school, no big studio background. I learned by doing. I picked up a camera, started shooting, and quickly realized that creating meaningful visuals was something I not only enjoyed, but something I was naturally called to.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road — and honestly, I wouldn’t want it to be. Everything I’ve built so far has come through trial, error, and a lot of persistence. Just learning through trial and error while leaving in Los Angeles. Some days were better than others but having an awesome mentor really helped pave the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a multimedia creator and storyteller who specializes in cinematic video production, branded content, and 3D Pixar style animation. My work sits at the intersection of creativity and clarity whether I’m producing a short film, building a brand’s visual identity, or simplifying complex topics through animation.

I’m most proud of two things:

Building my own lane. Instead of trying to copy what’s trendy, I’ve focused on creating a style and voice that fits me: cinematic realism, clean storytelling, and character-driven visuals.

The impact my work has on people. Whether it’s families connecting with a benefits topic through animation, athletes seeing their story told authentically, or a small business getting their first piece of professional media — I value the real-world results.

What sets me apart is consistency and intentionality.
I care about the details — the lighting, the framing, the pacing, the way a story breathes. I approach every project like it has a purpose, and clients trust me because I treat their brand like my own. I’m also constantly evolving — learning new tools, pushing the quality higher, and developing original IP that reflects my creative voice.

At the end of the day, I’m a storyteller. Whether it’s a full documentary or a 20-second social clip, I want everything I create to feel crafted, meaningful, and unmistakably “me.”

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I didn’t come from a traditional creative background or go to film school. Everything I’ve built — from my company to my animation style to the way I shoot — has come from teaching myself, experimenting, and staying curious. I think that surprises people because my work often looks like something that came from a big team or formal training, when in reality, it grew from hours of trial, error, and passion.
