Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Lee.
Hi Kristen, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I originally got inspired after seeing another local officiant posting about their work, something about it just clicked for me. I decided to get ordained, and when I performed my very first wedding, I was so nervous! But once I stood there with that couple and felt all the love and excitement in the air, I knew this was something truly special.
Over time, I’ve grown to love every part of what I do, from helping couples write their vows to creating personalized ceremony scripts that reflect their story. There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by so much positivity and joy on a wedding day.
My journey definitely wouldn’t be the same without my family. My husband, daughters, son, and even my mom have all been a huge support and have helped me at events through the years. My daughter has even been my photographer, capturing those beautiful behind-the-scenes moments. My husband has always pushed me to keep going, and because of that encouragement, I’ve already doubled the number of weddings I did in 2024!
This year, I also expanded my business to include wedding coordination services, so now I get to help couples with more extensive planning, from the first “yes” to the final “I do.” It’s been such an amazing journey, and I feel so grateful to be doing what I love.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced my share of challenges — from starting out with very little to not even having a car at one point, which made it tough to get to weddings and meetings. There have been times when things felt overwhelming, but giving up has just never been an option for me.
Every struggle has taught me something, about patience, faith, and persistence. I’ve learned how to adapt, stay positive, and keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned. Those hard moments have only made me stronger and more grateful for how far I’ve come.
Now, looking back, I can honestly say the journey, bumps and all, has shaped me into the businesswoman and person I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m the owner of Say I Do with Kristen, where I offer wedding officiant and coordination services. I specialize in creating heartfelt, customized ceremonies that truly reflect each couple’s unique love story. Whether it’s a simple sign-and-go, an intimate elopement, or a full wedding day celebration, my goal is always to make the experience meaningful, stress-free, and unforgettable.
Over time, I’ve expanded my services to include wedding coordination and planning, so I’m able to help couples from the early stages of organizing their big day all the way through to that final “I do.” I’m known for my warm personality, my attention to detail, and my ability to make every couple feel comfortable and supported.
What I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built and the love I get to witness. Each wedding reminds me how powerful connection and commitment can be, and that never gets old. I’ve had couples tell me they felt like they’d known me forever, and that means the world to me.
What sets me apart is that I truly care. I pour my heart into every ceremony I write, every vow I help craft, and every timeline I organize. I treat every wedding as if it were my own family’s, and in many ways, my family is a part of it. They’ve helped me along the way, cheered me on, and made this journey even more meaningful.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think some risks are absolutely worth taking, because no matter how they turn out, you always learn something valuable from the experience. Starting my business was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I didn’t have everything figured out, but I had passion, faith, and a determination to make it work.
There have been moments where I wasn’t sure how things would come together, from financial risks to putting myself out there in front of people I’d never met. But every time I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone, it’s led to growth.
To me, risk isn’t about being reckless, it’s about believing in yourself enough to take that first step, even when things feel uncertain. Sometimes the best things in life come from those leaps of faith. Whether it goes perfectly or not, you come out stronger, wiser, and more confident in your path.
