Today we’d like to introduce you to Margaret Lipp.
Hi Margaret, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I went to college at The Ohio State University and had studied Exercise Science. After college I had a short stint of a customer service job until I was able to secure a position as an entry level personal trainer for a local training studio specializing in biomechanics and rehabilitation. I spent the next 9 years working my way up from entry trainer to senior trainer to training manager and finally an opportunity to share ownership in the company. While on face value this was very exciting after digging into the fine print this was not mean to be my next step. During this time, clients who had been coming to the gym for some time had approached me with a different opportunity. They both had successful careers in real estate and were looking to expand their team. They proposed the idea of me getting my license and joining their team. Ultimately it was the path I chose and I haven’t looked back since. I had the privilege of working with the team for nearly 9 years and have been a solo real estate agent for nearly 2 years. What’s amazing to me is how so much of the soft skills and trust building skills I learned to help my personal training clients reach their goals has so seamlessly translated to my work as a Realtor. It’s been the ultimate gift to have the opportunity to help people in such a meaningful way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many struggles along the way. Being in a 100% commission based career comes with immense pressure. In my early years as a Realtor, there was lots of trial and error in terms of figuring out how to build my business. In the beginning you may only have one or two clients. There were times where I may have shown a client 20 houses and ultimately they may end up renting or decide to put their search on hold. Loosing clients after you’ve already invested countess hours and been away from your family many weekends was really tough. Those types of set backs can be hard to get over but you have to just get on with it! As a seasoned agent, that can still happen but I’ve learned to be smarter with my time and dialed my process in to be more efficient and effective. There is always some level of doubt and fear you are battling as an entrepreneur. There’s no playbook. You have to just figure it out and that is both freeing and can be terrifying. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a full-time residential Realtor with RE/MAX Premier Choice in Columbus, Ohio. I specialize in helping clients buy and sell homes across Central Ohio — from historic neighborhoods like Clintonville and Old Towne East to newer developments in Powell and Dublin. My approach is rooted in strategy, data, and genuine connection.
What I’m most known for is how I combine market analytics with a deeply personal, relationship-driven experience. I don’t just help clients find or sell a home — I help them make smart, confident real estate decisions that align with their goals and lifestyle. Whether it’s a first-time buyer navigating today’s competitive market or a seller positioning their home to stand out, I’m intentional about every step — pricing, presentation, and negotiation.
I’m especially proud of how many of my clients come back to me again and again or refer their friends and family. That tells me I’m doing more than just closing deals — I’m earning trust.
What sets me apart is my balance of professionalism and warmth. I bring the analytical precision you’d expect from a data-driven agent, but I pair it with genuine care and transparency. My clients know I’ll tell them the truth — even when it’s not the easy answer — and that I’ll advocate fiercely for them every step of the way.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’ve had the privilege of traveling to Germany, Portugal, Italy and New Zealand to name a few which I feel that gives me a unique perspective on our city. What I love most about Columbus is its balance — it’s a city that’s constantly evolving while still feeling deeply connected to its neighborhoods and people. There’s this incredible mix of energy and approachability here. It’s progressive, community-oriented, and full of opportunity, yet grounded and genuine — that’s a rare combination.
What I like least is that our growth sometimes outpaces our infrastructure. We’ve become such a desirable place to live that affordability, traffic flow, and neighborhood preservation are becoming real challenges. I’d love to see the city plan even more intentionally for smart, inclusive growth — so we keep that Columbus character that makes people fall in love with living here in the first place.
