Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Dodd.

Hi Melissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a lifelong Xenia resident and my husband and I both purchased the land that now houses Jasper Hills Golf Club and Jasper Kitchen + Bar back in September 2021. The land was a shuttered golf course that had been closed for over 5 years. We restored the golf course, rebranded and built a full service bar and restaurant. Both opened in the late spring/early summer of 2022. Today the golf course is a thriving public 18-hole golf course which was recognized as The Best of Dayton in 2023 and 2024. The restaurant is thriving and expanded in 2024 to include a new addition which added 56 seats to an interior space and 30 on a patio. Both businesses now employ over 100 people.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have been fortunate to have incredible community support and an amazing staff. With no experience in the industry, we have had a learning curve but embraced the journey and have been blessed.
