Hi Chance, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a fourth-generation legacy at Metzger Insurance, a family agency that’s been rooted in community trust and personalized service for nearly a century. But while our foundation is traditional, our future is anything but.
Recognizing the evolving needs of modern policyholders, agents and carriers, I decided to lead the charge into insurtech, launching our innovation subsidiary AInsure to bridge the gap between legacy operations and cutting-edge technology. Through AInsure, we’ve built and deployed tools powered by artificial intelligence and blockchain, aiming to scale both efficiency and customer experience without losing the personal touch that built our name.
One of our key developments is Cora, our AI, which is helping us streamline internal operations, enhance client interactions, and make smarter data-driven decisions. Our work caught attention: we were proud to be named a Safeco Agent for the Future in 2024, and we’ve recently been accepted into the Ohio University Innovation Center, which is helping accelerate our growth and collaboration in the broader tech and insurance ecosystem.
At the core of it all, I’m passionate about redefining what an independent agency can be—balancing generational legacy with technological disruption to build something that’s scalable, sustainable, and forward-facing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not — and I think that’s what makes it meaningful.
Building insurtech solutions, especially within a legacy industry like insurance, comes with real challenges. AI and blockchain are evolving rapidly — almost too fast at times — and staying ahead of that curve while trying to apply these tools in a highly regulated, relationship-driven space like insurance is no small task. There’s a steep learning curve, not just in the tech itself, but in translating that technology into something that’s useful, compliant, and most importantly, trusted by agents, carriers and clients.
One of the biggest hurdles is cultural — changing how agents and carriers operate isn’t just about plugging in a new tool. It requires a mindset shift. And that takes time, education, and proof that these technologies can actually enhance rather than replace the human side of the business.
With AI in particular, we’ve had to be very intentional about building transparency and accountability into how our systems function — especially with our AI assistant, Cora. You can’t just build for automation; you have to build for trust.
The process of developing AInsure and integrating these tools into a fourth-generation agency has been anything but linear. But I believe that’s where the real innovation happens — in the friction. And every challenge has pushed us to build better, more thoughtful solutions that are designed to last.

What makes me happiest is building the future of insurance — taking an industry that’s been around for centuries and finding new ways to make it smarter, faster, and more human through technology.
There’s something incredibly exciting about being at the intersection of legacy and innovation — honoring the generations that built our agency while helping shape what the next generation of insurance will look like. Every time we build a new AI tool, test a blockchain integration, or see an agent use one of our platforms to save time or serve a client better, it reminds me why we’re doing this.
Insurance isn’t just about policies — it’s about people, protection, and peace of mind. Knowing that we’re creating tools that can help agents, carriers, and clients connect more efficiently and transparently genuinely excites me.
At the end of the day, what makes me happy is building something that lasts, something that moves the industry forward while keeping the human connection at its heart.
