Community Highlights: Meet Daniel Weekly of Hardstriker LARP Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Weekly.

Hi Daniel , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I, personally, have done some form of Live Action Role Play for almost 15 years. I got into medieval LARP 4 years ago and absolutely loved it. I loved the combat, the community, the costuming – the general vibes. Almost from my first event, I knew that one day I wanted to run my own. I wanted an event that welcomed beginners as well as veterans. A place that could be less intimidating for those looking to get into the sport, but could also be fun and intense enough for those who had been in it for a while. 2024 was the year we made that happen! The name Hardstriker LARP Events comes from my “in game” name, Bjorn Hardstriker. We just finished up our 4th event and have no plans to slow down anytime soon!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can’t say that the road has been particularly smooth. I don’t think that building any sort of dream or passion project comes with smooth roads. It takes a lot of time, resources, and energy to do anything like this. We’ve (literally) built from the ground up, from our tower and gates to our tavern and long houses. But it’s worth every second when I can look out over the camp, hear the singing and laughter from the tavern, and see the fires glowing surrounded by people in the camps.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hardstriker LARP Events ?
We are a small LARP company based out of East Tennessee. We’ve started out as a “low immersion” LARP experience. Meaning, it’s very beginner friendly. We welcome everyone, whether you have full kit and armor, or you just want to try it out and show up in jeans and a t-shirt. We also run family friendly events, with kid specific games and activities! So far all of our events have been beginner and family friendly, but we do have plans to add “high immersion”and/or 18-21+ only events to the calendar in the future.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe I’m hard work, good energy, and genuine people.
