Jessica East shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
People sometimes forget that Noir is a full-service agency. We help our clients with graphics and branding, web and video, events, signage, communication strategy…you name it! Basically anything that represents your organization to the public.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jessica East, President and Founder of Noir Marketing and PR, a woman-owned, full-service creative agency based in Dayton, Ohio.
At Noir, we partner with local and regional businesses to bring their stories to life through a seamless blend of graphic design, branding, web design, photography, social media, event planning, and public relations.
What Sets Us Apart
• Client‑Centered Approach: We treat our clients as part of our team, collaborating closely from the first sketch to the final deliverables to ensure not only visually stunning work, but also a truly enjoyable and effective experience.
• Strategic and Unique Concept Development: We begin by listening deeply to understand your vision and ‘why.’ We then research to avoid duplication, sketch multiple creative concepts, and refine based on your feedback until we reach the perfect fit, ensuring your brand solution is both thoughtful and original.
• A Legacy of Resilience and Advocacy: I founded Noir in January 2012 as a divorced single mother of three. I am fueled by determination and a desire to support other women entrepreneurs like me.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people are often broken by a mix of betrayal, neglect, unmet expectations, and poor communication. Restoring those broken relationships requires time, patience, and a commitment to change behavior for the better moving forward. If there is no change, relationships cannot be repaired.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
So many times!
Life is hard enough as it is, let alone trying to raise children and build a business by yourself. In the early years, there were plenty of times I wanted to throw in the towel and give up…but I didn’t. I found other flexible and creative ways to bolster my billables while building a regular client roster.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
For the most part, yes. I am very honest about who I am and my priorities.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember my commitment to savoring every moment;,trying as many new things as possible…and then writing an amazing review complete with photos.
