Candice Zinner shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Candice, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding so much joy in hiking and planning my upcoming trip to Scotland this fall! I can’t wait to explore the history, soak in those stunning views, and just experience everything Scotland has to offer. Planning a trip that far for a few weeks feels both exciting and a little scary—but mostly exciting! I’m counting down the days and can’t wait to share the adventure.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Candice, owner of Salty—a unique wellness space in Chardon that’s all about relaxation and natural healing. At Salty, we offer salt therapy, an infrared sauna, ionic foot detox, and other services designed to help people breathe easier, feel better, and recharge. What makes us special is the experience—we’ve recreated the feel of European salt mines with thousands of pounds of imported Polish salt, so when you step inside, it’s like being transported to a calm, healing oasis. Beyond the services, I love bringing the community together with wellness events, fun themed nights, and collaborations with other small businesses. Right now, I’m focused on adding new services and experiences to keep things fresh and exciting, while always keeping that sense of connection and care at the heart of everything we do.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband. He has always believed in me and seen my potential, even in times when I doubted myself. His support and encouragement push me to dream bigger and keep moving forward.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life has been learning to let go—of people, situations, and seasons that no longer serve me. For a long time, I held on too tightly, afraid of change or loss. Over time, I’ve learned that healing comes in allowing, in trusting the process, and in giving myself permission to move forward. Letting them go has been both the hardest and the most freeing step in my healing journey. LET THEM
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to growing Salty and building a space where people can truly relax, heal, and feel cared for. Wellness is a lifelong journey, and no matter how long it takes, I’ll keep creating experiences and opportunities that help people feel better in their mind, body, and spirit.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I created a space where they felt seen, cared for, and able to breathe a little easier—both literally and figuratively. That I poured my heart into building a sanctuary of healing and calm, and that every detail showed my love for helping others. I’d want them to remember me as someone who brought peace, kindness, and a sense of community to their lives.
