We’re looking forward to introducing you to Abby Farnsworth. Check out our conversation below.
Abby, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
My entire life, I’ve been chasing love. I’m a hopeless romantic, so falling in love and getting married has always been one of my biggest goals in life. As many of my readers know, I’ve certainly had some bumps along the way. Not every relationship, even if it seemed right at the time, is meant to last forever. But recently, I’ve been able to stop chasing love and simply experience it. In June, my fiancé asked me to marry him. It was a moment I’ve waited for my entire life. Finally being able to stop running and just enjoy the connection we have is amazing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a traditionally published author at World Castle Publishing. Primarily, I write young adult romance. The genre is extremely close to my heart, as it is what really brought me into the book world as a teenager. But earlier this year, I actually branched out and signed a contract for my first adult romance, “Crazy For You.” It’s a clean billionaire romance with lots of yearning, particularly on the part of the MMC (main male character). I have to say, it’s actually one of the favorite projects I’ve ever worked on. Cain and Brea are an absolute power couple; I know my readers will love them.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I’ve always viewed the world a bit differently from others. I’m a passionate believer in true love and the magic it brings to our lives. I’ve also always known that there are lots of different people in the world with different preferences, particularly when it comes to books, movies, and music. However, I was genuinely shocked when in the midst of a philosophical conversation, someone told me that they did not believe in love. From that moment on, I realized that some people view the world through a very sad, lonely lens, even if they don’t realize it. That discussion made me even more passionate about bringing more happiness into the world through my books.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Most artists, whether they be songwriters, actors, or authors, take inspiration from their personal lives. Pain is a very powerful emotion, which makes it easy to pour into my books. It’s actually easier than taking inspiration from love, at least in my experience. Not only is my writing better when I pull from my personal life, but doing so is also a way for me to release a lot of pent up frustration that isn’t easy to express in any other way. Once I realized it, I started incorporating it into all of my projects.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I firmly believe that true love and soul mates exist. I have no way of scientifically proving this, but there is no doubt in my mind about it. Lots of other people agree with me though, which must mean something.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
Honestly, I’ve spent most of my life not at peace. I’m always chasing something, whether that be the completion of another book or finishing my degree. It’s hard for me to pause and actually live in the here and now. Getting engaged changed that. For the first time in my life, I finally feel like there is someone who understands me as much as another person ever could. In fact, he might even understand me better than I do. I’m finally at peace with where I am in life, while also being hopeful about the future.
