Check Out Lydia Campbell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Campbell.

Hi Lydia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My love for photography started as a teenager. I entered a photo into a photo contest conducted by a local wedding photographer. My photo came in second place and that got my wheels turning. I asked that same photographer if I could shallow her and she said yes. I went on to be her second shooter for a few years and learned so much from her. I shot my first wedding at 15 years old. My mom sat in the parking lot the entire time, since I was so young. I went on to continue shooting weddings and engagements and just fell completely in love with it. I loved the whole affair of a wedding – the dress, cake, flowers, all the family coming together to celebrate love…I truly loved every aspect of it. Jumping forward after shooting for nearly 17 years and over 500 weddings + engagements my love for the day just keeps growing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge for me while building my photography career was staying consistent on post on social media. It’s very hard to keep up on editing, while also posting new work constantly in a way that social media rewards.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in wedding + engagements, but also shoot family sessions throughout the year.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mentor as a teenager, Melissa Esterline, was so kind to take me under her wing as I was only 14 years old. She taught so much to help get me started. After getting married and having kids myself my husband and family has always stepped in a supported me in every aspect as running a business as a mom can be very challenging.
