Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Jamison & Elizabeth Walker.
Hi Kimberly Jamison & Elizabeth Walker, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our story started with us joining the gym when it first opened in 2017. Kim started in 2017 and I started in 2018. Kim was a member, then a front desk associate, then trainer and now co-owner. I was a member but have always had a passion for fitness. I had been interested in opening a Burn Boot Camp location but wanted a friend to join me in the process. I mentioned it to Kim one day and she was extremely interested in the idea! That’s where our journey began! We were going to open a brand new location, but we asked the person who was the current owner of our location if she would be willing to sell to us since this location has always been our home. When the previous owner agreed to sell to us, we were so excited and we moved forward from there and never looked back!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Purchasing the gym was far from a smooth process and we encountered many struggles along the way. The first challenge was finding a way to coming to a reasonable agreement on the purchase. The process took a lot of research on how to purchase a business and we had to quickly learn how to determine a reasonable price to pay for the location. We worked through lease negotiations and the terms of the lease we were taking over. The biggest learning curve was researching how to secure funding. Once we made the purchase we had to work not only many shifts at the gym, but also at our full time jobs. We had to evaluate the staff that we had and make some changes on that side. Getting the business running smoothly took at least a year to a year and a half. Today we feel like we are finally building a really great team and making progress on goals we have been trying to reach for the last 2.5 years.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Burn Boot Camp-Columbus?
