Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Melissa Hall.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into Mental Health Wellness coaching began from a place of deep personal reflection, faith, and a desire to serve others with compassion and purpose. As a mother of five and a woman who has navigated through seasons of loss, transition, and healing, I discovered early on that helping others rise from life’s challenges was not just a calling—it was my purpose. I want to acknowledge Lawna Gamble ( of Willow Cove Art & Wellness Boutique) for being a bright light that helped lead me on this path.
With degrees in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, along with national fellowship recognitions and specialized training in mediation and trauma recovery, I’ve combined professional expertise with lived experience to offer support that feels like therapy—without the stigma.
Founding And Her Name Was Grace LLC was a natural extension of my heart’s work. This part of my contribution to the world was birthed at the onset of Covid. It became a sacred space where healing, faith, and emotional/mental wellness could coexist. Today, I support individuals, couples, small groups and families— those impacted by personal growth needs, grief, professional challenges, relationship building, parenting, gun violence, life transitions and so much more—through coaching, community support, and faith-based healing initiatives.
Every tool I offer, every program I create, and every prayer I pray is rooted in the belief that grace is not just something we receive—it’s something we grow through. And I am humbled to walk with others as they discover their own grace along the way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Limited Financial Resources
Launching And Her Name Was Grace LLC during the pandemic meant building a business with little to no capital. With few clients and no steady revenue, essentials like marketing, branding, and administrative support were often out of reach. I had to get creative—relying on free platforms, word of mouth, and personal relationships to slowly grow awareness.
Minimal Client Base & Visibility
Starting out, there were days when no one showed up. My services were heartfelt and needed, but without the resources to amplify my voice, I often questioned if anyone could even hear me. Building credibility as a new coach—especially in a saturated, overwhelmed digital space—felt like shouting into the void.
Emotional & Mental Fatigue
Like many, I was personally impacted by the emotional toll of the pandemic. Serving others while managing my own grief, transitions, and uncertainty was incredibly heavy. I carried the weight of wanting to help others while not always feeling stable myself.
Technology & Learning Curves
I had to pivot quickly—learning virtual platforms, adapting to remote service delivery, and mastering digital tools with no budget or tech team. Every step forward came with trial, error, and prayer.
Lack of Mentorship & Community
Entrepreneurship can be isolating. Starting a faith-based mental health wellness business with a unique focus meant I didn’t always have models to follow. I often felt like I was building the plane while flying it—trusting God for the blueprint one step at a time.
Imposter Syndrome & Self-Doubt
Despite my education, credentials, and calling, I wrestled with thoughts like “Am I really equipped for this?” or “What if no one sees the value?” I had to affirm myself constantly and lean into my “why” to silence the noise of fear and comparison.
So, my answer to the question is absolutely not, however, God was ordering my steps the entire way, and still is!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me…
What matters most to me is living a life that reflects God’s grace, walking in purpose, and helping others heal, grow, and rise–especially in their most broken places. I believe in the power of emotional restoration, spiritual alignment, and community connection.
It matters to me that people know they are not alone. That they are seen, valued, and worthy of healing. It matters that every person I serve feels supported in rediscovering themselves, not just as survivors of their circumstances, but as oercomers filled with promise and power.
I care deeply about faith, family, and legacy–being present for my children and grandchildren, showing up with integrity in every space I’m called to, and leaving a legacy of love, healing and service.
It matters to me that grace leads the way–that in all I do, I extend the same compassion I needed on my own journey. And that I honor the call on my life by using every lesson, loss, and lived experience to lift others.
