Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Bell.
Hi Megan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is that I love my job. I started in actual real estate in 1992. I was licensed and a new mom. I did not have money to spend so real estate quickly wasn’t going to work because I was not prepared. Fast forward, my broker at the time told me I need to start working to generate sales. I decided to look into property management. I went to work for a local company and through the years went from a leasing consultant to the Vice President. In 2011 I became a licensed broker in Ohio and KY. I was working in property management in 2013 and had 242 employees. My supervisor at the time told me they were selling my communities and I would have to now travel 5 days a week. I decided it was time to sell real estate full time. I started with still working my fulltime job and quickly (6 months) decided I loved the aspect of helping buyer’s and seller’s with their largest purchase. I set a goal of closing two homes per month and that quickly escalated. I now work as a fulltime realtor and am a broker in Ohio, KY, and TN. I am in the top 1% of realtors in Ohio and number 437 in the United States. I own a new to me building in Canal Winchester that my husband and I renovated the last quarter of 2024.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No but also I have been very determined and set goals along the way to work towards.
Some struggles are not understanding FHA financing in the initial part of my business and showing multiple homes along the way that buyer’s did not qualify for.
Money- worrying about money and closing when I just needed to have faith and think things would work out the way they are supposed to. I found that once I quit worrying about the end of the transaction, it helped me learn that if you take care of people including customers and other agents along the way, you will be paid back.
People- Learning how to deal with all types of personalities.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Megan Bell Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Locally owned and operated. I do not have a team of realtors. Our brokerage has other agents in it and my husband and I own the building but I am a solo producing agent. I am most proud of my name and the upbringing I have had and have helped our boys have.
I would want readers to know it’s important to work with a realtor that has your best interest in mind. I have people calling asking me if I would help them purchase a $50K property. The answer is always yes because you never know where it will lead you to.
Any big plans?
My plan for the future is to grow within the community and attract agents that want to learn to be successful and me be able to help them. This business is not easy and it’s not for everyone but if someone has the drive and determination, it can be an amazing career.
