Hi Rhea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sweet Meatz Desserts began as a cottage bakery in October of 2023. After working seventeen years in healthcare as a phlebotomist I wanted a change in career. But most importantly, I wanted to ensure that I was creating generational wealth for my children, and contributing to the needs of my community.

There are currently no African American, women owned mobile dessert caterers that offer made-from-scratch pie a la mode and baked goods in the North Omaha Community. Sweet Meatz Desserts Bar can become a beacon of hope by providing affordable, scratch made products, while creating jobs.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As an entrepreneur and a person of color, one of my greatest strengths is resilience. I push forward no matter the barriers I encounter, continuously learning and evolving as a business owner. Despite the systemic challenges that Black women entrepreneurs often face—such as limited access to capital, underrepresentation in key business networks, and disparities in opportunities—I remain committed to growth and success. I embrace creativity, resourcefulness, and perseverance to navigate these obstacles and build a thriving business.

Sweet Meatz desserts bar specializes in made-from-scratch Cakes, Pies, Cobblers, Cookies, and Danish amongst several other products and services.

Sweet Meatz Desserts is a Black woman owned Dessert shop/ Bakery that offers made from scratch products, we stand out because there are no bakeris in Dustrict 2 (North Omaha), and the grocery stores here that offer baked goods are not making them from scratch. We provide cultural flavors that are not commonly found in Omaha and offer exceptional customer service, according to google reviews!

I am most proud that at Sweet Meatz, the culture is all about creativity, passion for baking, and a dedication to providing delicious desserts to our customers. We strive to foster a warm and welcoming environment where everyone’s ideas are valued, and teamwork is essential to creating our indulgent treats.

In the short term, Sweet Meatz Desserts aims to acquire a food truck to enhance catering opportunities and reach a broader market. Looking ahead, the long-term goals include establishing a professional website for nationwide cookie shipping and introducing an ice cream product line by Summer of 2026.

Sweet Meatz Desserts plans to broaden its market reach by catering for various events such as weddings, corporate events, holiday gatherings, parties, and by participating in local festivals and vending opportunities. This strategy will allow to showcase its delicious treats to a diverse audience and create more visibility for the brand. Adding our website later on in 2025 will also serve to this purpose.
