Daily Inspiration: Meet Stevie Patterson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stevie Patterson.

Stevie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I apologize I am rushing to do this!

Since a child my family always knew I was going to be an artist. I’ve always had love for art. As a child I started to focus more on sports and dance. I didn’t create as much as I wish as a child, but I still managed to create something out of anything. Fast forward my senior year of high school I started to get back into drawing. I graduated from high school and tried college, but covid happened and I didn’t give a damn about school at the time because I didn’t even know what I wanted to do with myself. But I was still drawing and my skills really starting to improve during Covid because that’s all I was doing was drawing. I couldn’t sleep so I would draw. During the spring time of 2020 my one teammate had contacted me to help her learn how to draw because she was a tattoo artist and wanted to improve her skills. So we linked up and I was just showing her what I do and explained that art is a skill you develop with practice. Anyways she had a client coming in, so I just watched her and eventually she asked me if I wanted to tattoo her. Of course I said yes. I then did some research and found a apprenticeship a week later by the grace of God. My first shop wasn’t the best, but I am grateful for the opportunity. I eventually found an amazing shop “Total Immortal” where I worked with a lot of amazing artists, who I learned so much from. I am now at Green light tattoo & art gallery. I am surrounded by greatness. I am slowly learning very important lessons and working my way up. My parents, great grandparents, grandma Monika, aunt Jennie and my art teachers are the main people that gave me a space to grow & learn as a artist. I am very grateful and excited to see what the future has in store for me 🌱

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have to face my own personal responsibility and business responsibilities. I am a young woman learning how to properly manage her business and money. The more money you make the harder it is to maintain. So I’ve been educating myself and making adjustments that make sense. I also struggle with making time for my friends and family. Things are consistently changing so we adjust as we go. No matter what we acknowledge our feeling/thoughts, learn and always find healthy solutions.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist! I create what I want. What I feel. I enjoy doing portrait studies or anything realism. I love realism. But my personal paintings represent my thoughts & feels. I use my art to reflect and heal. My art is how I depict my thoughts & feelings.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
