Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Cox.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Started the business in 2004 and slowly grew the business for 7 years by doing festivals, bazaars and fundraisers. In 2011, I then opened a retail shop in my home until we outgrew that and then moved to a retail space in downtown Cambridge. After 5 years, we moved the store and production to a more conducive building for manufacturing along with having a retail presence and we have been at the current location for 5 years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Each location has been a learning curve in one way or another.
We’ve been impressed with Nothing But Chocolate, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We make our chocolates and package every piece by hand with a very small seasonal staff. We specialize in creating delicious chocolates for every occasion and are known as the go to place to get a gift that everyone will enjoy.
We are proud that we get to know our customers and to work with many local businesses one-on-one to create chocolates for business gifts and employee gifts.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Start slow.
Be patient with growth (slow is better than fast growth)
It’s a rollercoaster ride running a business and to find mentors and a very supportive support system.
Down-turns can be the beginning to an amazing up-turn in business. It just may take longer than you want.
