Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Heather Prince, DNP, FNP-BC.
Hi Dr. Heather, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for aesthetics—anything that helps me look youthful, natural, healthy, and vibrant. I have the pleasure of balancing family medicine and medical aesthetics. Before becoming a master aesthetics injector, I regularly went for monthly facials and used pharmaceutical skincare products. I recall how my mother and grandmother had beautifully radiant skin, and they prioritized their daily skincare routines. They stayed out of the sun, did not smoke, and avoided alcohol to maintain their skin’s health.
I began my professional medical career in 1999. In addition to my extensive experience as a master injector, I spent two additional years training with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. I am well-versed in and passionate about new developments in the aesthetic field. I have worked in the aesthetics industry for over eight years, collaborating with other professionals, physicians, and major aesthetic corporations. Now, at the age of 50, I am excited to own my own business for the first time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business requires a comprehensive approach to transforming ideas into a viable enterprise. The journey is not always smooth. It involves strategies such as market research, business planning, financial management, and branding. Finding a business mentor can also be essential.
Along the way, I have faced challenges, including maintaining a work-life balance, needing more funding than I initially planned for, and seeking support from my community.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and CEO of Handcrafted Aesthetics Medical Spa located in Gahanna, Ohio. As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Chamberlain University, I take pride in the services we offer at Handcrafted Aesthetics. We specialize in Botox, dermal fillers, medically managed weight-loss injections, microneedling, and PRP/PRF, always aiming for natural-looking results. What truly sets us apart is our dedication to client experience, exceptional customer service, and the results we achieve.
One of my biggest accomplishments is my educational journey. Starting with an associate degree in my 30s, I was often one of the older students in class. Over the course of a challenging decade, I pursued my education relentlessly, progressing all the way to my doctorate without taking a break. Through this experience, I hope my children learned that with determination, anything is possible, regardless of how long it takes. If you have a personal goal, you can achieve it.
