Hi Midori, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been interested in beauty but years ago I didn’t know how stable of a job it was. I decided to major in entrepreneurship in college and thought maybe I could bridge both my passion for business and skincare and beauty into one. My plan since freshman year of high school was to go to college then jump right into esthetician school and that’s exactly what I did!
My past experience of skin issues kept the fire in me to keep pursuing my passion and after 8 years I finally reached my goal and got licensed!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout the years and even know I wonder if the path I took to get here was the best or easiest. Some things made me wonder if it was all worth it or if I should try something more conventional. I knew deep down though that a passion career was the right choice for me and I had to just keep pushing and remembering my “why” and what it was I was trying to achieve.
We’ve been impressed with Glow Where You Are, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Glow Where You Are is a traveling esthetician business. I am meeting you where you are location and skin wise to give you at least one hour of your day all for yourself. I specialize in relaxation helping you find inner peace to help you glow from within. I offer many services from facials, waxing, and lash/brow services. I do single bookings as well as events like bridal parties, bachelorettes, or even just a night in with your best girlfriends!
I think what sets me apart is my love of the service. It is just as relaxing to me to perform services as it is for my clients to receive them.
Something I am most proud of is the fact that I have been building this business and getting my name out there in an unconventional way but it’s working! I have no brick and mortar spa, I had no network system when I moved to Cincinnati, and I am still finding my place in the adult world only one year out of college. Despite all of this I have started my business I’ve dreamt of since I was 14 years old.
What I want readers to know and feel from my first and foremost is passion. The second I did my first facial I knew this was my path. It’s rare to have a dream and I be more than you dreamed of. I had always feared I hyped up this career path more than it was worth and I couldn’t have been more wrong. The Esthetics’s world has a special place in my heart and in my life and I want all readers and clients to feel how grateful I am to be where I am right now!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I think passion matters most to me. A career without passion is not something I have ever wanted. I learned in business school that you can have a great idea, but without the actual want of success, it won’t mean anything. Esthetics is one of the most precious things in my life because it is something I have always relied on to make me happy, passionate, and hopeful of what my future career will be!
