Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylor Fry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Fry.

Hi Taylor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was really young, I was always very intrigued with cameras & video cameras. I loved the idea of being able to freeze time to relive those moments. Every chance I got I would always have a polaroid camera or a disposable camera with me taking photos of anything I could. Growing up we went through many financial struggles, so buying any nice camera was never an option. I knew at a young age that I would eventually be able to work my way up & into the photography world.
That world finally opened up to me when I was 26 years old after giving birth to my son, Grey. I immediately became a full time stay at home mom and had the extra time to be able to dive back into photography. I started with using a Nikon D7500 and could not put it down. Being a stay at home mom gave me the opportunity to take my time with learning the cameras inside and out again. During my sons nap time, I would go online and watch videos and read articles about equipment, lighting techniques, posing demonstrations, & just about anything else that I could!
My son was of course my first “client”. It has always meant the world to me knowing my son helped get me to where I am today with my photography all while capturing his “firsts” with my camera.
After about a full year of practicing with my son and other family members, I took the leap and started a photography brand that took off way faster than I could have ever imaged. Since then, I have met the most amazing clients who have allowed me to work & capture sweet moments for over 5 years now.
I truly cannot thank my family enough for the constant love and support they give me each day. Between family sessions & wedding events, my schedule can get pretty crazy during peak season. Having my beautiful family and my photography schedule, I wouldn’t be able to do what I love without the support and encouragement that I receive from my wonderful fiancé, Wesley. Every day he is there to jump in with our two boys while I am out capturing your sweet faces!
I am truly grateful for this journey and I cannot wait to see where it takes me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My personal experience as a freelance photographer has been a wild and beautiful rollercoaster! I have gone through many high points with my work and have met some of the MOST incredible people I could have ever imaged to work with. I have been given the opportunity to work at some of the most gorgeous wedding venues, to have photographed the sweetest family portraits, to having the honor of capturing photos of newborn babies being welcomed into the world.
With the high points comes the low points. The first two years of being in the industry I was working against COVID19 regulations. I went through many long periods of time without having sessions booked during the slow season. And after four years, I did have to rebrand my photography business and start over again. I was very fortunate to have so many of my amazing previous clients migrate over to my new brand, but it has not been easy trying to build my work back up again.
Each person in the industry will go through highs and lows, it’s just up to you to find the perfect path to navigate your way back up again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in family portraits & wedding/event photography. I like to describe my photography style as mostly free-spirited with a little bit of necessary direction. I will guide you in a way that’s natural and brings out your own personalities. My goal for you is to live presently in the moment and embrace the REAL that comes with having family photos taken or a wedding day.
You will see within my work that my photography/editing style is reflective on YOUR unique & beautiful stories. I will always capture your moments as they are. My main goal is to keep your moments in time as true and pure as possible.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Life is always going to throw you curve balls. It will always leave space for you to make excuses. Life is always going to keep moving forward whether you are ready to take that leap or not. Remember to remember yourself. You do not need to wait for “the right time” to do something you have a passion for. It may not always be easy, but you will find a way to make it work. Be there for yourself and find what makes you happy. Once you find your passion, don’t ever let it go.
