Today we’d like to introduce you to Cincere Banks.
Hi Cincere, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has been a blend of passion, creativity, and resilience. I started off as a hairstylist but I’ve always had my own style that captivated people with my creativity! I have been modeling for street wear brands since 2020 and now getting into more of an editorial style which has always been my dream ! I’m also an athlete hairstylist who specializes in locs and braids. I’ve always had a love for visual storytelling—whether it’s through fashion, movement, or hair.
Ever since I started working with athletes I wanted to elevate their image by doing styles that were significant to them also showing their audience that it’s more then just sports! From there, I started building relationships, creating content, and working with brands like Capanova, Public Icon, Popular loner, Black owned and Cincinnati culture collective!
As a creative, I wear many hats—sometimes literally. Whether I’m choreographing a visual for a music video or curating a look for an editorial shoot, it all comes down to expression and detail! I love bringing awareness to different brands and business because god has done so much for me,I love to give back and give what has been installed in me! I’ve had the opportunity to reach over 800K+ views across platforms, but more importantly, I’ve had the chance to connect with people who resonate with my art.
The journey hasn’t always been easy—there were moments where I had to create opportunities from scratch, but I’ve learned that staying consistent and staying me has been the key.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was being multi-passionate in an industry that often wants to put you in a box. I’m not just a hairstylist. I’m not just a model. I’m not just a creative. I’m all of those things, and for a while, it felt like I had to shrink myself or choose one lane to be taken seriously. But I learned that my versatility is my power. Being able to move between fashion, beauty, choreography, and branding is what sets me apart.
Another challenge has been breaking into spaces that weren’t always built with people like me in mind. I had to build my own table, create my own visuals, and show brands and athletes what was possible. That took a lot of faith, consistency, and unshakable belief in my vision.
Also, working with high-profile clients like athletes comes with pressure—tight schedules, quick turnarounds, and high expectations. I had to learn how to move like a business while still keeping my creative soul intact. But I’ve embraced that challenge, and it’s helped me grow both professionally and personally.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a hairstylist , a Dancer , A model , and A creative! I specialize in locs and quickweave bobs ! I also specialize in styling clothes. I am most proud of building and branding myself and all of my talents ! What sets me apart from others is that I choose to stay authentically to myself and I Stand on my core values and I Believe that’s what gets you most respected!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that Cincinnati is very versatile and its upbringing ! Different minorities are taking an approach in their own businesses. We are very community based and that’s refreshing ! I don’t like how boxed in people can be without realizing there is more going on in Ohio than what they were exposed to ! I hate that we don’t have soot if excursions or activities to do in the city outside of clubbing.
