Today we’d like to introduce you to Nyla Williams.
Hi Nyla, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been an adventure seeker for as long as I can remember. In fourth grade, my teacher invited me to join a youth ambassador program. The program hosted students in Australia. I immediately accepted the invitation. At 11, I completed my first long international trip. My passion for understanding the world continued. I enrolled in a high school program with an international-focused curriculum. I received my Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University. I studied abroad in Peru, Northern Ireland, and Ghana. By the time I turned 22, I had lived on four continents. And had learned five languages. My travels have slowed down because I am a law student. I aim to practice international law. When I am not studying, I enjoy sharing my travel, food, and life adventures. I hope to inspire everyone to live their life to the fullest. I hope to show people who look like me that the sky is the limit — all you have to do is believe.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I recently saw this quote: “You can plan a pretty picnic, but you cannot predict the weather.” The quote deeply resonated with me as someone who had formerly tried to plan every detail of my life. I learned to flow through rejections and stagnant engagement on social media. I encourage myself to use everything as a learning opportunity.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My life is an adventure. My family and friends always tell me, “You’re always somewhere,” which is true. If I am not traveling, I am exploring whatever city I live in. I wholeheartedly believe that we are here to experience as much as we can before we leave. Experiences inform and shape us. It’s no secret that international experiences are my favorite. But it does not stop there. I am a foodie. I love trying food from all cuisines. Since I just moved to Cleveland, I have been exploring all the food spots. I also enjoy art classes, yoga classes, dance classes, cooking classes, and language learning. I speak Spanish and French. I am a beginner in Portuguese, Akan, and Arabic. I am willing to try anything at least once before forming an opinion. Last but certainly not least, I am a servant of my community. I am a part of school and church groups that focus on community service. I share all of my experiences on Instagram and TikTok (@adventureswnyla).
