Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Taylor
Hi Chuck, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The beginning of my road to financial independence started January 1st, 2006. Just a week prior I quit my job that I had for the previous 4 years and decided to start my own business with nothing more than an idea and some industry knowledge. I work in the real estate industry and in 2006 started a data processing company. We processed photos and documentation on foreclosed properties to mortgage field companies. Within a year of starting I already had 2 employees and I was working 7 days a week. Eventually we operated with 4 employees on laptops in the house I rented for 15 years. Towards the end of that time period I started another business which focused on the in field documentation of properties for real estate agents and investors. This also included squatter removal and eviction assistance. I coined the term ‘Squatter Swatter’ and use it to describe how we deal with squatters in our properties. This second business has been growing rapidly due to the high demand for someone to enter unsecured properties in low income neighborhoods and document the condition. TaylorMade Services CLE is an established and respected real estate services company for the last 10 years!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. The biggest problem I encountered was finding qualified people to work in our company. Finding smart, hard working and motivated people was a major problem we had on a regular basis. You have to understand that the work order updates we provided needed to be 100% error free. Mistakes on an update would cost us money in charge backs. Errors were simply not tolerated in our clients eyes and you had to pay close attention to the photos and information provided. The work order update needed to be flawlessly correct which is demanding but that was the protocols we operated under.
As you know, we’re big fans of TaylorMade Services CLE. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a Property Recovery Agent. I recovery properties for real estate agents, investors and owners. Sometimes they are in foreclosure, sometimes tenants stop paying rent and need assistance in relocation. Then, of course, sometimes there are squatters in properties and I am also known as the Squatter Swatter. I help them to find a better path in life by leaving the property they are illegally living in currently. This is a very niche business and I haven’t met anyone else that operates like I do and oversees everything like I do. It is, as you could imagine, a very dangerous job. I have encountered many extremely hostile people and have been attacked a couple times just trying to do my job. I provide this service in Northeastern Ohio and travel south to Akron, Ohio as a coverage area.
What’s next?
I receive many questions through my social media from people asking ‘how can they do what i do?’ Since this is a niche business there isn’t a lot of online information or resources I am going to make some. I am going to create some online courses so people can learn the proper way to do this job.
