Today we’d like to introduce you to David Hebler
Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up my family always had a variety of pets, from birds, fish, reptiles cats and dogs I’ve always had a love for animals and nature. I started my career in culinary arts and eventually became a Chef, and when I was not in the kitchen I spent my free time outside hanging out with my dogs. So when I discovered professional training I fell in love with working with the dogs and knew I had to become a trainer. It didn’t take long to realize just how rewarding this job is, the opportunity to change the relationship between a client and their dog for the better.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Changing careers after 20 years was far from easy, and becoming a professional dog trainer has been both mentally and physically demanding. However, the reward of saving dogs who are on their final chance—keeping them out of shelters or worse—makes every challenge worthwhile. Each day brings new lessons from the dogs and their owners, and I’m deeply grateful for the personal growth this career has offered me. I’ve discovered my true purpose in helping people and their dogs thrive in happy homes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m David Hebler a professional dog trainer living in Toledo, Ohio. I train in basic obedience, behavioral modification and advanced skills like retrieval and scent work on and off leash with all breeds and temperaments. I specialize in helping fearful and aggressive dogs from their last chance and educating owners on how to keep their dogs in a happy and healthy household.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Success, to me, lies in the meaningful changes we bring to the lives of both dogs and their owners. It’s about guiding an anxious or unruly dog to become a calm, confident, and well-behaved companion through training. Success also means equipping owners with the tools and understanding needed to communicate effectively with their pets, forging a strong bond built on trust and mutual respect. Beyond that, it’s reflected in the glowing feedback from clients who see remarkable transformations in their dogs’ behavior and overall quality of life. At its core, success in dog training is about nurturing harmonious relationships that lead to happier, healthier lives for both humans and their canine companions.
