Meet Rebecca Maxwell of Downtown Cleveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Maxwell

Hi Rebecca, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was raised in Euclid, Ohio and grew up playing every sport and in every choir. I’ve always been a social butterfly. When I first moved Downtown 8 years ago, I started trying out local fitness classes which can be so intimidating for your first time and especially alone. I saw a problem and wondered how I could fix it. She’s Company originally stemmed from the idea of taking that intimidation factor away and connect women along the way. Unfortunately, I put the idea on the back burner because I didn’t know how to make it work. Fast forward 5 years later and I finally knew how to make it happen. I’ve always loved hosting and I have annual parties every year to get all of my friends together and quite honestly, I wanted all of my friends, to be friends. It worked. The parties kept growing but my apartment stayed the same size. Two years ago, I decided we had to have two Galentines parties because I wanted to invite every girl I’ve ever met. We had one party in my apartment and another at Wyne Tasting Bar. The place was packed and the vibes were amazing, in that moment, I knew I was on the brink of something really special.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a business is never smooth sailing and anyone who acts like it is, is lying. Personally my biggest struggle has been balancing finances, making sure I’m keeping events affordable and accessible while still succeeding as a business. I also struggle with being a perfectionist and wondering how I can keep getting better and creating fun events. Sometimes your creativity escapes you but you still have to figure it out.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own two different businesses. Two One Thrift is a clothing line that specializes in thrifting and repurposing sports gear to give you a more fashionable game day fit. She’s Company is an event based company that is designed to connect adult women to create meaningful friendship and connections while supporting as many women owned businesses as we can. The best way to describe what both of these companies specialize in is simply “for the girls”. We are for the girls, by the girls with the girls best interest at heart. I am so proud of the impact that my work has done on the women around me. To watch you passion actually help people in real time, is something I cannot describe. Whether it’s helping them connect with their new best friend or watching their confidence grow through fashion, it makes it all worth it.

Any big plans?
We hope to expand She’s Company into other cities and markets so we can connect even more women through these events
