Hidden Gems: Meet Lydia Tobler of Lydia Thee Esthetician

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Tobler

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The COVID shutdown really triggered this entire journey for me. My Bachelor’s degree is in Concert Design & Technology and I had spent a decade working in the live music industry. However, when the pandemic hit, no one needed sound engineers. During this time, I decided to reevaluate my career. I had spent years working as a professional makeup artist for several major brands while I was getting my bachelors degree. This, in addition to having struggled with persistent acne myself, even after a course of Accutane, motivated me to pursue my esthetics license. I got my license in 2021 and successfully launched my own practice in 2023. I see major sustainability and ethics issues in the beauty industry, so I aimed to fill that gap. Everything I use in the studio is truly cruelty free, and I recycle and reuse whenever possible without sacrificing quality or sanitation for my clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe every small business faces challenges in the first year or two. Building from scratch is tough, and there have been difficult times, but it’s always been worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lydia Thee Esthetician?
I specialize in corrective skincare treatments, focusing on acne, hyperpigmentation, and aging gracefully. My most popular services are chemical peels, dermaplaning, and microdermabrasion. I’m known for being highly educational, as I love teaching and ensuring my clients understand the WHY behind our treatments. What I’m most proud of is my commitment to ethics. I am here to help, my treatment room is a safe space. I only recommend services I believe will truly benefit you as a client. I refuse to recommend, carry, or use any brands that test on animals, no matter the potential profit. I offer skincare services for both the face and body, as well as makeup applications and one-on-one makeup lessons.
