Conversations with Bisma Ali

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bisma Ali

Hi Bisma, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always admired the craftsmanship from my place Kashmir It is so real and when you see some businesses selling fake products in the name of Kashmir products it made me both sad and anxious. That’s how it all started and wanted to represent actual work and dedication of our artisans who have hands of gold as they say.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s never a smooth road when you are naive in the market. I just started out and every day is a new challenge, a new opportunity and new learning. The biggest struggle was explaining the real and fake products. My emphasis is always on quality and arranging quality products all the way is a challenge in itself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an Engineer by profession and recently graduated with a masters in Business Administration from University of Cincinnati where I had this idea of working on this vision of introducing our work our artisans to this part of the world as I knew this is something I love to do.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson: be honest and genuine in what you do. When you know your quality, your craftsmanship you can always explain it and make people your buyers understand the difference between actual cashmere and wool. Know your product before you sell it.

Always love your work your products before starting the journey.

Pricing:

  • Pure cashmere is always expensive
  • Pure wool is different then mix wool
  • Handcrafted handwoven is exclusive and expensive
  • $20 to $3000
